Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'American Graffiti' was really the launching point of Harrison Ford's career. Which film director helped allow Ford to shine for the first time, in this 1973 movie?

Answer: George Lucas

Though Harrison Ford was not the featured star of this film about George Lucas' home town Modesto in the 1950s, he may have stolen the show as the hot-roddin' Bob Falfa. Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Cindy Williams and several other recognizable personalities also appeared in the movie. Lucas and Ford would, of course, go on to greater fame with their future collaborations.
2. In 1974, Harrison Ford appeared in which very intriguing thriller about a surveillance expert who has discovered what he believes to be a murder plot, through the conversations of two seemingly innocent individuals?

Answer: The Conversation

Gene Hackman is the star of this interesting film that Francis Ford Coppola did between the two 'Godfather' films. Also appearing are John Cazale, Cindy Williams, Frederic Forrest and Teri Garr, alongside Harrison Ford, who played a relatively minor role.
3. When people think of Harrison Ford, naturally his role as Han Solo in the original 'Star Wars' trilogy comes to mind. The first time we see Han Solo is in a sleazy bar on the planet Tatooine. He discusses the use of his ship, the Millennium Falcon, with Obi Wan Kenobi. He also gets into a conversation with, and eventually kills, which individual, in that same bar?

Answer: Greedo

It was with the 1977 film 'Star Wars' that Harrison Ford really hit the big time. Oddly enough, despite the fact that Ford had worked with Lucas before, he wasn't originally considered for the role of Han Solo since the director didn't want to use actors who he had previously worked with. Despite this, Ford eventually won the part.
4. One of Harrison Fords' earlier, less well-known films was the 1978 war adventure 'Force 10 from Navarone'. With which director did he work in this film?

Answer: Guy Hamilton

This is probably one of Fords' most underrated films, coming at a time between his work in 'Star Wars' and 'The Empire Strikes Back'. Ford worked alongside Robert Shaw and Barbara Bach in this fairly exciting movie.
5. Harrison Ford indeed understood how to pick good roles during his early film career. Case in point, the 1979 classic 'Apocalypse Now', in which Ford appeared alongside all but which of these actors?

Answer: Kirk Douglas

Again working with Coppola, this time Harrison Ford played another relatively minor role, that of Colonel Lucas. Besides Ford, Brando, Duvall and Sheen, this incredible film also featured Dennis Hopper and Laurence Fishburne.
6. Here's an easy one for Harrison Ford fans. What was the name of the character that Ford played in the exciting 1981 adventure classic 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'?

Answer: Indiana Jones

Harrison Ford went on to play the Indiana Jones character again in 1984's 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' and 1989's 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'.
7. 'Blade Runner' is among the most popular films featuring Harrison Ford. What is the full name of the character he plays in that dark 1982 thriller?

Answer: Rick Deckard

Ridley Scott took his turn directing Harrison Ford in this stunning futuristic classic. 'Blade Runner' also featured Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Edward James Olmos, M. Emmet Walsh, and Darryl Hannah.
8. Which Harrison Ford film features Ford as a police detective who must protect a young Amish boy from several other corrupt policemen?

Answer: Witness

Peter Weir directs this 1985 crime thriller that sees Harrison Ford portray Lt. John Book, a police detective on the lam who must protect a young Amish boy from several other corrupt cops from his unit. Kelly McGillis, Danny Glover and Viggo Mortensen also appear in this film.
9. Which Harrison Ford film, directed by Peter Weir, was based on a novel by Paul Theroux?

Answer: The Mosquito Coast

'The Mosquito Coast', a story about an eccentric man and his family who attempt to survive in the tropics of Central America, was the second collaboration in two years between Harrison Ford and director Peter Weir. Helen Mirren and River Phoenix starred alongside Ford in this film.
10. Which movie featuring Harrison Ford was directed by Richard Marquand?

Answer: The Return of the Jedi

Well here's something of a trick question. Many people believe that George Lucas directed all of the films in the first 'Star Wars' trilogy, but he actually only directed the first. Irvin Kirshner directed 'The Empire Strikes Back', while Richard Marquand was responsible for the direction of the third film 'The Return of the Jedi'. In the film, Ford's character, Han Solo, helps the Rebel Alliance in an attempt to finally overthrow Darth Vader, the evil Emperor Palpatine and the empire itself.
