Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where was Bruce Banner living in the beginning scenes (not counting the flashback sequence in the opening credits)?

Answer: Brazil

Bruce, who was played by Edward Norton, was hiding out in Rocinha Favela, Brazil. He practiced relaxation techniques and martial arts to keep his heartbeat and anger in check. He worked at a bottling plant as a day laborer, using his smarts to help keep the old factory running. Norton also rewrote much of the screenplay.
2. Bruce attempted to say "you would not like me when I'm angry" in a foreign language, but failed. What word did Bruce say instead of "angry"?

Answer: Hungry

Earlier, Bruce was shown watching "Sesame Street" in Portuguese with a dictionary. Grover taught him how to say "hungry", and Bruce practiced it a few times. He soon learned that using it as a synonym for angry would only confuse people. While hunting for "Sesame Street", Bruce found an episode of "The Courtship of Eddie's Father", showing a scene with Bill Bixby. Bill Bixby played Bruce Banner in the TV Series, "The Incredible Hulk".
3. Bruce was helped via the Internet in his quest for a cure. On the instant messenger, Bruce went by Mr. Green. What was his helper's screen name?

Answer: Mr. Blue

Mr. Blue was actually Dr. Samuel Sterns, a cellular biologist, played by Tim Blake Nelson. Using a secure connection, Mr. Blue gave him helpful hints, such as certain flowers that might help him. He also used Bruce's blood samples to conduct his own tests.

At his urging, Bruce returned to America for more information regarding his case. He eventually tracked Mr. Blue down in New York to attempt a cure.
4. To further his quest for a cure, Bruce learned that he needed more data from back home. What university did Bruce go to?

Answer: Culver University

Flashbacks revealed that Culver was where Bruce worked when he became exposed to the gamma radiation. His long-lost love, Betty Ross, still worked there as a cellular biologist. He used her identity to hack into the computer. Unfortunately he found that there were no records, and Betty was dating someone else. Liv Tyler played Betty.
5. Besides the general, Bruce's nemesis was Emil Blonsky. What was not true about Blonsky?

Answer: He was raised in Africa.

Emil Blonsky, played by Tim Roth, was called in especially to track Bruce down. Bruce became an obsession with him as he allowed the General to treat him as a guinea pig. Using the same research that created the Hulk, Blonsky became more powerful. At his introduction, Blonsky was described as born in Russia and raised in England.

He confessed his age to the general but was reluctant to take a desk job as he was a fighter.
6. Why did the General want Bruce?

Answer: He wanted to turn the Hulk research into an army weapon.

General Ross told Bruce his intention, which was why Bruce ran. When doing his research, Bruce had no idea that it was for weapons application. After Bruce was captured, the General threatened him in the event he had cured himself before he could be dissected. The actor who played the General was William Hurt, who compared the character to Captain Ahab chasing the white whale.
7. What was not one of the effects Blonsky experienced with the experiments?

Answer: Increased intelligence

Blonsky faced the Hulk for the first time after a round of injections on Culver campus. His increased speed and strength were extremely apparent. However, this also came with an increased ego. His challenge to Hulk was met with a slam into a tree, putting him at death's door. The increased healing brought him back to full health in time to face off against the Hulk again.
8. What method of transportation did Bruce and Betty NOT use at any point to get to or around New York City?

Answer: Subway

When police started checking cars, Bruce and Betty snuck into New York by using a boat. Once in New York, Betty suggested riding the subway, but Bruce was against the idea, saying, "Me in a metal tube, deep underground, with hundreds of people in the most aggressive city in the world?" They decided to catch a cab, but the driving techniques of the driver almost caused Bruce to become the Hulk.

After Betty's outburst at the driver, Bruce suggested some techniques to help her manage her anger. Betty's response, "You zip it. We're walking."
9. Which character, from another comic series, made an appearance at the end of the movie?

Answer: Tony Stark

Robert Downey Jr. made an appearance as Tony Stark. He had played Tony Stark in "Iron Man", released the same summer as "The Incredible Hulk". Stark approached the general in a bar with an "I told you so" and mentioned his preference for hardware. Peter Parker is from the "Spider-Man" series, Reed Richards is from the "Fantastic Four", and Jean Grey is from the "X-Men" stories. Stan Lee is a co-creator of all four comics.

He has a cameo in "The Incredible Hulk" as the man who drank from the contaminated bottle.
10. Which of these phrases did the Hulk NOT say?

Answer: "Hulk is the strongest one there is"

Lou Ferrigno did the voice for the Hulk, and played the Hulk in the TV series, "The Incredible Hulk". He has a cameo as the security guard at Culver University. Bruce managed to get by him with a story and a pizza bribe. Hulk said, "leave me alone" at the bottling plant in Brazil. "Hulk smash" was said while fighting Abomination, and "Betty" was his last remark before leaving her.
