All the people gathered around, listening to Paul, are unhappy and need to believe that Jesus is the Messiah.

His relationship with Jesus is very important in the film, because they clash on ideology. In one important scene, Jesus and Judas have a discussion wherein Jesus tells him that he must betray him so that he can be crucified and the salvation plan can take place. Harvey Keitel has been working with Martin Scorsese for a number of years, first appearing in Scorsese's student production, "Who's That Knocking at My Door?"
He played in Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs", and he received a best actor nomination for "Bugsy".
