Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which English-speaking country has Lee Geum-Ja's daughter been adopted?

Answer: Australia

Lee Geum-Ja's daughter Yeh-Nee was adopted by an Australian couple, and her name was changed to Jenny. Lee Geum-Ja had no choice in the adoption, as she was in prison and Mr Baek had Yeh-Nee. Lee Geum-Ja desperately wants to meet her daughter and try to make amends before completing her plan.
2. How does Jenny convince her parents to let Lee Geum-Ja take her back to Seoul?

Answer: She threatens suicide.

After flying to Australia to meet Jenny and her adoptive parents, Lee Geum-Ja makes quite an impression on the whole family. In the night, Jenny begs Lee Geum-Ja to take her back to South Korea with her, which Lee Geum-Ja refuses to do. The following morning, Jenny holds a knife to her throat, giving the adults no choice but to allow her to go with her mother.
3. When Jenny wakes up in Lee Geum-Ja's apartment, and see's Won-Mo's ghost, what does she say to him?

Answer: "Do you speak English?"

Jenny speaks no Korean, and Lee Geum-Ja speaks no English, so they struggle to communicate. Jenny is in an unfamiliar country surrounded by people she can't understand, so when she sees the little boy her primary concern is whether this is someone she can communicate with.

When Won-Mo shakes his head and hands at her, Jenny simply says "Damn", and falls back asleep. Lee Geum-Ja had been praying to meet Won-Mo's ghost for years so that she could beg for his forgiveness, but she sleeps through this entire encounter.
4. When Park Lee-Jeong tells Mr Baek that she would like to go for dinner with some friends, he tells her that she can go, but gives her a condition. What is this condition?

Answer: That she is not the one who pays for the meal

Park Lee-Jeong is yet another former cellmate of Lee Geum-Ja, who agrees to pose as Mr Baek's girlfriend in order to help Lee Geum-Ja capture him. Mr Baek is shown to be abusive and controlling, physically, emotionally, and sexually. She has to ask his permission to go out with her friends, which he agrees to with the condition, "Don't you be the one who pays for dinner."
5. Whilst in prison, Park Lee-Jeong is forced to sit up while The Witch sleeps, and stop mosquitoes from biting her. She fails, and The Witch ends up getting bitten where?

Answer: The sole of her foot

Park Lee-Jeong also has to fan The Witch, and make sure she is comfortable throughout the night. When she fails at her task, The Witch is bitten on her foot, and becomes furious. She attacks Park Lee-Jeong, punching and kicking her while yelling about how unpleasant a mosquito bite on the foot is.
6. Lee Geum-Ja slowly kills The Witch, by putting what in her food?

Answer: Bleach

Over the course of three years, Lee Geum-Ja sneaks bleach into The Witch's food, causing her to gradually become more and more ill. When she is confined to the hospital, Lee Geum-Ja volunteers to help feed her, so that she can continue to poison her. The Witch never suspects Lee Geum-Ja, even when she squirts bleach onto the food right in front of her. Upon The Witch's death, Lee Geum-Ja inherits her nickname.
7. When Lee Geum-Ja arrives at Mr Baek's house to find him unconscious as planned, she pushes him onto the floor and then does what?

Answer: Cuts his hair

Park Lee-Jeong drugs Mr Baek's food, as per Lee Geum-Ja's plan, in order to render him unconscious. Mr Baek, however, has discovered that Park Lee-Jeong has been meeting with Lee Geum-Ja, and beats her up. When Lee Geum-Ja arrives, Mr Baek is unconscious, face down in his food, and Park Lee-Jeong is tied to a chair, bleeding. Lee Geum-Ja pushes Mr Baek onto the floor with a serving spoon, then proceeds to frantically cut at his hair with a pair of scissors.
8. Lee Geum-Ja forces the captured Mr Baek to act as a translator between her and Jenny, to enable her to explain to Jenny why she gave her up for adoption. During this conversation, what does Lee Geum-Ja liken the feeling of being pregnant to?

Answer: A wallet getting fatter

Lee Geum-Ja says, "As you grew in me, it felt good, like a wallet getting fatter." This scene is the first time that Lee Geum-Ja and Jenny are able to effectively communicate. Prior to this, Lee Geum-Ja had discovered a letter written by Jenny, detailing how angry and upset she was with her mother, so she uses this opportunity to apologise.
9. After Lee Geum-Ja tells Jenny that she helped Mr Baek in the kidnapping and murder of Won-Mo, what does Jenny offer to do?

Answer: Apologise to Won-Mo's mother

Lee Geum-Ja admits to Jenny that the reason she had to give her up for adoption was because she was in prison for Won-Mo's murder. When Jenny offers to apologise to Won-Mo's mother, Lee Geum-Ja is touched by the thought and the naivety, and begins to cry.
10. How does Lee Geum-Ja discover that Mr Baek has killed more than one child?

Answer: She discovers keepsakes taken from each child.

As Lee Geum-Ja is about to kill Mr Baek, an alarm on his cell phone sounds. When she takes the phone out of his pocket, she notices that he has Won-Mo's marble hanging as a charm, along with four other charms - a hairband, a ring, a plastic figurine, and a button. Lee Geum-Ja realises with horror that there have been four other children kidnapped and killed, and that if she had not covered for his initial crime, they might still be alive.
