Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who played Cinderella?

Answer: Gemma Craven

Gemma has since gone on to appear more on the stage than in films. She has toured in productions such as "42nd Street". Margaret Lockwood was the wicked stepmother, Annette Crosbie was the fairy godmother and Edith Evans was the dowager queen.
2. What song takes place in the palace library?

Answer: Protocoligorically Correct

This song is sung by the King and his council as they are planning the ball at which they hope the prince will meet an eligible princess. The King and his council are singing about how difficult it is to plan an event whilst taking into account the rivalries between countries. They also want to make sure that they show off their traditions and what makes Euphrania great.
3. When the Fairy Godmother discovers Cinderella on her swing, missing the wedding, she tells her off. Which other fairy tale character does she mention?

Answer: Snow White

She says, "It was the same with Snow White. All the same, you young girls: never do as you're told! Men are much easier." It is at this point in the film that the prince is told to marry another girl after Cinderella has been exiled. The Fairy Godmother says that if Cinderella had obeyed the rules and left before midnight, then her situation wouldn't be so bleak.
4. What are the names of Cinderella's step sisters?

Answer: Isobella and Palatine

The sisters are the spoilt daughters of Cinderella's wicked stepmother, and are constantly bickering amongst themselves. They were played by Rosalind Ayres and Sherrie Hewson. Soap fans will recognise Sherrie Hewson as Maureen Holdsworth from "Coronation Street". Drizella and Anastasia were the step sisters in the Disney version of "Cinderella". Portia and Joy were the sisters in the 1957 Rogers and Hammerstein version of "Cinderella". Drucella and Marbella were the sisters in a 1977 version of "Cinderella".
5. The film was shot in England and which other country?

Answer: Austria

The exterior shots of the homes and palaces, which we see when the invitations to the ball are being delivered, were filmed both in England and in Salzburg, Austria. The interiors were filmed in England.
6. What is the Prince's name?

Answer: Edward

Although he is traditionally referred to as Prince Charming, this prince is called Edward. He wants to marry for love, while his parents are worried that he is being too choosy, and placing the kingdom under threat. Edward does not want to go through with the bride finding ball, but it is there that he meets Cinderella.
7. Which of these songs does not appear in the film?

Answer: So This is Love

"So This is Love" was in the Disney version of "Cinderella", and was sung when the Prince and Cinderella met at the ball. "Secret Kingdom" is sung at the equivalent point in "The Slipper and the Rose", when the Prince takes Cinderella into the garden.
8. In "What Has Love Got To Do With Getting Married?", which three princesses are mentioned by name?

Answer: Susan, Karen, Kate

"Find a mate, dear boy, find a mate,
Princess Susan, Princess Karen, Princess Kate.
Find a mate, dear boy, find a mate,
Love will have to wait."
This is sung by the Prince's mother and father as they worry that their royal line will die out if Edward does not marry and produce an heir soon.
9. What is the name of the Prince's cousin?

Answer: Duke of Montague

He doesn't seem to be very popular with the other members of the royal family. If Prince Edward doesn't marry and produce an heir, then the royal line will pass to the Duke.
10. Who wrote the songs for "The Slipper and the Rose"?

Answer: Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman

The Shermans were a very famous team of writing brothers. Their songs for the movie, as well as many of their other songs, were nominated for an Academy Award. They also wrote many other musical scores including "Mary Poppins", "Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang" and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks".
