Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of the movie, what shape is Hector carving out of wood for his son? (It is also what Achilles compares himself to.)

Answer: a lion

We see Hector carving it while he is on the ship returning from Sparta. Achilles calls himself and his Myrmidons lions, which shows Achilles' independance from King Agamemnon.
2. Who kills King Menelaus?

Answer: Hector

King Menelaus wants to kill Paris because he stole his wife, Helen of Sparta. Menelaus and Paris have a duel, but when Paris is wounded he crawls back to Hector, and when Menelaus tries to finish him off, Hector stabs the king.
3. Who came up with the idea of building the wooden horse in order to pass the walls of Troy?

Answer: Odysseus

Odysseus thinks of this when he was watching a soldier carve a similar horse as a toy for his son.
4. What relation is Briseis to Prince Hector?

Answer: his cousin

When Odysseus offers the captured woman to Achilles, Achilles realizes that Briseis is royalty, but keeps her anyways. Later on, Briseis tells Achilles that Hector is her cousin, when he leaves to kill Hector, but Achilles does not listen to her.
5. Complete Odysseus' sentence. "______ do have a tendency to complicate things."

Answer: women

Odysseus says this to Achilles when he realizes that Achilles' reason for deciding to return to Greece is that Achilles had met Briseis.
6. Who kills Achilles' cousin, Patroclus?

Answer: Hector

Patroclus dressed up as Achilles so everyone thought he was Achilles, including Hector, which is why Hector fought with and killed Patroclus. This made Achilles furious and he went off to kill Hector, who knows he will not live through the next day.
7. Which king kills another king?

Answer: King Agamemnon

King Agamemnon kills King Priam with a spear through his back, while Troy is being invaded. King Agamemnon's act is quite dishonorable since King Priam had not seen Agamemnon come up behind him, and was only able to see his murderer after he had been stabbed and fallen to the ground.
8. Complete Achilles' sentence. "I won't let a ______ rob me of my glory."

Answer: stone

When Achilles is fighting Hector, Hector trips over a stone and falls, defenseless. Then Achilles tells him to get up, followed by the quote I have given, and allows Hector to take up a weapon.
9. Who kills Achilles?

Answer: Paris

When Troy is burning down, Paris needs to fetch Briseis, and he finds her with Achilles. He shoots an arrow through Achilles' heel, and then shoots him three times in the chest, although Briseis pleads with him not to. This is rather ironic, since we have the impression that Paris is rather weak (he had never killed a man before) whereas Achilles seems invincible.
10. After all the killing and dying, which two men of the six main characters actually survive to the end?

Answer: Odysseus and Paris

When Troy is burned, Hector's wife shows the underground tunnel to get to the river, and Paris goes with her. Meanwhile, Odysseus takes over Troy, because Briseis had killed Agamemnon.
