Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 'The NeverEnding Story', Bastian completes his quest in Fantasia and, by the power of his imagination, sits on Falkor's back to fly back to the 'real' world. What kind of creature is Falkor?

Answer: Dragon

Falkor, a 'good luck' dragon, and the protagonist, Bastian, team up with Atreyu, a warrior from the Plains People, to save the country of Fantasia and with it the Childlike Empress, whom Bastian names Moonchild after his mother.

Falkor can fly, though as he doesn't have wings, he seems to 'swim' through the air like a water snake or eel. At the end of the tale, Flakor takes Bastian back to the real world and the bullies who are tormenting Bastian at the start of the story are chased into into a heap of rubbish.
2. Anna Quayle plays Baroness Bomburst in which 1968 musical film about a flying car?

Answer: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Jeremy and Jemima live with their widowed father Caractacus Potts, an inventor of weird and wonderful gadgets including the eponymous Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the floating, flying car, takes the Potts family and their friend, Truly Scrumptious, to Vulgaria, where the Baroness Bomburst has ordered that all children be captured. Jeremy and Jemima are imprisoned but are rescued by Caractacus and Truly with the help of the Toymaker and hundreds of other children.
3. Which character in 'Toy Story' is, according to Woody, capable of "falling, with style!"?

Answer: Buzz Lightyear

Woody is a little upset when Buzz Lightyear comes to live in Andy's toy box. Buzz is convinced that he can really fly (because after all, he doesn't know he is a toy!). After numerous adventures, including one in which Buzz leads a rescue mission to save Woody from the unpleasant child next door, Buzz and Woody become fast friends. All the toys try to guess what Andy will be given for Christmas this year - but they aren't expecting a puppy!
4. In 'Home Alone 2: Lost in New York' who gives Kevin McCallister a pair of ceramic turtledoves as a gift, telling him to give one of them away as a sign of eternal friendship?

Answer: Mr. Duncan, the toy-store owner

Kevin finds himself alone again this Christmas and in New York City. Harry and Marv, now known as the 'Sticky Bandits', are planning to rob the toy store and steal the Christmas Eve takings; money that Mr. Duncan, the toy store owner, intends to donate to the Children's hospital.

Kevin sets himself up as bait to lead Harry and Marv away from the toy store, but he runs into trouble when he is nearly caught. He makes friends with the pigeon lady in Central Park after she rescues him from Harry and Marv. He presents her with one of the turtledoves given to him by Mr. Duncan and explains that they are now friends forever. Kevin's family flies back from Florida in time for his mother to find him at base of the Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center, so they are all able celebrate Christmas together.
5. What is the name of the actor who voices Nigel the Brown Pelican in the movie 'Finding Nemo'?

Answer: Geoffrey Rush

Nemo, a clownfish, is abducted and his father Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) goes after him to rescue him. Nemo winds up in Sydney Harbour where he finds himself in a tank in a dentist's office. Before Darla, the dentist's niece, can get her hands on him, he is helped to escape by some friendly fish. Meanwhile, Nigel the Brown Pelican gives Marlin a ride in his beak, and the two are reunited.

Geoffry Rush is well known for his appearance as Captain Barbossa, the captain of the Black Pearl, in the 2003 film 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl', as Lionel Logue in 'The King's Speech' (2010), and more recently in the role of Hans Hubermann in the 2013 movie 'The Book Thief'.
6. I'd like a house like Carl Fredricksen's in the movie 'Up', but what would I need to make it float away like Carl's?

Answer: Thousands of balloons

Carl and his wife have always wanted to visit Paradise Falls in South America. It has never been possible, but they decide to make the trip. Right before they are due to go, his wife (Ellie) gets sick and dies. Carl decides he should go anyway and attaches thousands of balloons to the roof of his house, causing it to rise.

He makes it to Paradise Falls just as he promised Ellie, and rescues a young friend named Russell.

Answer: They fall into it through a picture and have to be rescued.

Edmund and Lucy Pevensie fall back to Narnia through the picture, along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb. They join Caspian, King of Narnia, in rescuing seven Lords of Narnia, banished by the evil Miraz. They voyage to a series of islands where they face various trials.

The annoying Eustace finds a treasure trove on one island and places a bracket around his arm. He turns into a dragon and before the others leave the island without him, as they were unable to find him, he manages to let them know he is Eustace.

He is changed back into a boy, having met Aslan, and rejoins the others, transformed in character. They continue the voyage to the end of the world before returning, sadly, to our world.
9. Fly, the much-loved character in the movie 'Babe', sounds like she should be able to take off, but why is she unable to do so?

Answer: She is a dog.

Babe, a pig won by Farmer Hoggett at a fair, is raised by Fly the dog and her pups, leading him to think he's a dog, not a pig! He struggles to find his place on the farm, but when he alerts the farmer to a would-be sheep thief he earns the farmer's praise. Babe sorts the hens into groups and Famer Hoggett conceives of the idea of training him to be a sheep-herding pig. Babe wins a sheep-herding contest and a permanent place in the Hoggett household.
