Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Born in 1922 in London, England, Christopher Lee will always be remembered as the actor who 'revamped' the myth of Dracula. Very tall and handsome, he added to the character a touch of seduction greatly appreciated by the Count's fans. In which of these movies did he make his debut as the famous vampire?

Answer: 'Dracula' or 'The Horror Of Dracula'

'Dracula' (1958) was directed by Terence Fisher and also starred the fabulous Peter Cushing as Dracula's nemesis: Van Helsing. In the following years, Hammer Film would produce 6 sequels to the first movie including: 'Dracula: Prince Of Darkness' in 1965, 'Dracula Has Risen From His Grave' in 1968 and 'The Scars Of Dracula' in 1970.
2. In most of the movies about Count Dracula, the character of R.M. Renfield occupies an important place because of his prophetic behavior announcing the coming of his Master, Dracula. Which of this actor never played Renfield?

Answer: Peter Fonda

Tom Waits in 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' in 1992, Rubio in 'Dracula' in 1931 and MacNicol in 'Dracula: Dead And Loving It' in 1995.
3. Who played Professor Van Helsing in the 1979 version of 'Dracula' directed by John Badham?

Answer: Laurence Olivier

Finlay, Davenport and Price also played Van Helsing respectively in: 'Count Dracula' (1977), 'Dracula' (1973) and 'Son Of Dracula' (1974). This 'Dracula' was adapted from the play written by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston. Frank Langella played Dracula. While very successful on Broadway as a play, the movie, although beautifully filmed, doesn't hit the spot.
4. In 'Interview With A Vampire', Claudia, the child vampire, is played by Kirsten Dunst. Which of these actresses auditioned for the role but, obviously, did not get it?

Answer: Christina Ricci

Maybe the producers were afraid she would look like Wednesday Addams...
5. In the poetic and absolutely beautiful 'The Wisdom Of Crocodile' (1998), Jude Law plays a modern vampire who feeds on the emotions of the woman he loves (before feeding more conservatively...). Which of these actresses did he save when she was about to throw herself in front of a train?

Answer: Kerry Fox

He will eventually kill her himself, then he will meet Anna (Lowensohn) and his life will be shattered.
6. In John Carpenter's 'Vampires' (1998), Valek, the Master Vampire, is played by Thomas Ian Griffith. For how many years has Valek been a vampire?

Answer: 600

He says it himself: 'For 600 years, I have been feeding on your kind at will'.
7. In the very original 'Near Dark' (1987) directed by Kathryn Bigelow, by which of thse characters is the hero, Caleb (Adrian Pasdar), bitten?

Answer: Mae

Caleb is a young and innocent farm boy who joins, unwillingly, a gang of vampires led by Jesse (Lance Henriksen). Disguted by their behavior, Caleb tries to find a way to get away from them, to get his life back and to save Mae even if she is the one who started all this by biting him. Severen and Homer are 2 vampires played by Bill Paxton and Joshua John Miller.
8. This Canadian movie about a sensible vampire named Boya was nominated for three Genie Awards in 1996: best costume design, best screenplay and best actress. Director David Cronenberg has a small but unforgettable part in this film. What is its title?

Answer: Blood And Donuts

'Blood And Donuts', directed by Holly Dale, tells the story of a vampire who went to sleep in 1969 and awaked some 25 years later to be confronted by an ex-lover of the 60s and some local gansters. Funny and touching.
9. In the hilarious 'Love At First Bite' (1979), Count Vladimir Dracula (George Hamilton) goes to New York to find love in the person of Cindy Sondheim played by Susan St-James. What is Cindy's profession?

Answer: Fashion model

Remember when Hamilton says: 'Children of the night.... Shut up!' Hamilton received a Golden Globe nomination for his delicious performance, he lost to Peter Sellers ('Being There').
10. In Roman Polanski's comedy 'The Fearless Vampire Killers', an old professor and his idiot assistant arrive in an East European village and soon encounter a tribe of vampires. In which of these regions is the village situated?

Answer: Slovenia

Sharon Tate also stars in the movie as Polanski's love interest. She would only make 3 other movies before being murdered by Charles Manson's brainwashed followers. Very, very sad.
