Average Movie Trivia: Van Wilder: Party Liaison | 10 Questions

Answer: Having his trousers altered

The movie opens with an outside shot of Coolidge College accompanied with Van's opening voice-over. As the camera cuts inside Van's dorm room, we see that an elderly oriental lady has been taking measurements of Van's legs in order that she can alter his trousers for him.

Answer: No

Van provides the student (who he calls Timmy, a name the student says isn't his!) with one of his trademark motivational speeches, however when Van turns around, we see the student jump. Thankfully, Van's speech has given the fire brigade enough time to deploy a catch-net, and we see them help a shaken but clearly still alive student to his feet as the campus cop uses his megaphone to say, "Great work, Van. Thanks!"

Answer: Sick Boy's

Ryan Reynolds must have taken a while to learn the following dialogue that he delivers at breakneck speed as Van and Taj walk down the corridor to Sick Boy's dorm room....

"You'll need a copy of my class schedule so you can take notes. You'll also handle my finances. I lecture at the freshman crisis group every other Monday. I'm spearheading the Save the Swim Team Speedo Spectacular and the Bloated Belly Beer Bash to Battle Bulimia this semester. This is Sick Boy's room. Not a week's gone by he hasn't had an ailment. Shingles, hepatitis, crabs. That was his fault."

As the door opens we see a student who clearly lives up to his name, and Van, without missing a beat, hands him a plastic glass and says, "Matzo ball soup. Jewish penicillin. Don't pick at it."

Answer: Chickadees

We see Van and Taj at a college basketball game where the home team - the Chickadees - are losing badly (34-62) to their opponents. As the players go off for a break, we see Van get out of his seat, and head to the locker room to provide the Chickadees with one of his trademark motivational speeches whilst their coach, who is deaf, and oblivious to Van's presence, is looking the other way and plotting out team tactics on a blackboard. Van's encouragement clearly works, as we see a freshly invigorated Chickadee team score a number of impressive hoops!

Answer: Walking on broken glass

Delta Iota Kappa president Richard, a medical student, gives an overly-detailed account of the medical issues that the pledges could encounter if they were to walk on broken glass, but balances this with the question, "How bad do you wanna be a Delta?" His girlfriend, Gwen, walks in, asking if Richard is ready to study (to which Richard responds with stifled frustration, "I'm in the middle of an 80 year tradition here,") before advising the blindfolded pledges that "they're just Doritos". Armed with this information, the pledges happily jump onto and then continue to dance on the Doritos, much to Richard's annoyance.

Answer: A red nightie

Van has thrown one of his legendary parties - this time, a cross dressing underwear party - which is in full swing when his father, Vance Wilder Senior, arrives to give Van the news that he is cutting his son's financial support as he is fed up that his son has been in college for seven years.

Answer: "Write that down"

We hear both Van and his father use the phrase "write that down" a number of times during the movie. When Van's friends Hutch and Taj hear Van's father say it when he visits Van during the cross dressing underwear party, they realise that Van has been very much influenced by his father over the years.

Answer: Ms. Haver

In the scene immediately following the cross dressing underwear party scene, we see Van in Ms. Haver's office saying that he needs more time, and wonders if he can be put on some sort of extension program / pay as you go. At the end of the scene, Ms. Haver hands Van some papers and advises, "Fill this out, it's a standard payment plan extension form."

Answer: Rollerskating Party

Panos Patakos, the president of the Lambda Omega Omega fraternity, comes to Van's dorm room to ask for his help. Despite having had the best GPA for the past fifty years, the Lambda Omega Omega guys have not much in the way of success with the ladies, and are looking for Van to aid them in throwing a party that they can be proud of, and that people will actually turn up to. Van initially refuses, saying that he just doesn't have the time, but when Panos shows Van a wad of money and asks how much Van's time is worth, Van quickly changes his mind!

Answer: Yes

Van skates to one goal and turns on a portable CD player sitting atop the goal, while Gwen makes her way to the goal at the other end of the rink. We see Van stretching and warming up before the shot switches to Gwen, who we then see very proficiently skating towards Van maintaining perfect control of the puck as she bears down upon his goal.

She stops, and then with one smooth shot, strokes the puck beautifully past Van into the top of the net. Gwen then removes her helmet and says, "My brothers play hockey... for the Rangers."
