Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Ringo is launched into the sea of monsters, he is carried off by a strange four-legged animal. After a while, the Beatles still remaining in the submarine spy something chasing after Ringo and the strange creature(s). What is it/are they?

Answer: Indians

After Ringo is brought back on the submarine by a calvary button, he describes the Indian encounter to be "arrowing", as he pulls a white arrow from his chest.
2. When Ringo drives Old Fred around in the Beatles' home in the beginning of the movie, John is the first Beatle that they meet. What monster is he before he turns into John?

Answer: Frankenstein

"Hey Ringo, I just had the strangest dream!" Old Fred had warned Ringo not to pull the lever that was mounted near the lab table holding Frankenstein, "I can't help it, I'm a born lever puller." After Ringo pulls the lever, Frankenstein is unleashed and drinks a potion that turns in into the lovable John Lennon.
3. What two colors is Paul McCartney's tie in the movie?

Answer: Red and Yellow

Paul is first seen in the movie when he walks out of a door in the Beatles' home. Afterwards, he swiftly fluffs his tie, which is the most vibrant and noticable acessory in Paul's wardrobe, in the movie. Paul is the last Beatle to be found in the house.
4. When the Beatles walk out of the band storage room, towards the end of the movie, they must quietly walk through the sleeping Blue Meanies. Who joyfully whispers, "Tiptoe, through the Meanies!", causing the others to shush him?

Answer: Ringo

Afterwards, one of the Beatles steps on a bagpipe, causing a clown to set off a siren within his body, awaking the Meanies. The Beatles are chased all over Pepperland!
5. There are many sculptures of words in Pepperland, such as "Yes". Which of these is one of those words?

Answer: Know

The Chief Blue Meanies' pet, Glove, smashes the "Know" sculpture, causing it to read "No", but as John sings "All You Need Is Love", the sculpture is changed back to its original state.
6. The Beatles pass many seas on their journey to save Pepperland. What is the song that plays first, while the Beatles are in the submarine, and what is the song playing after it, while the Beatles are turning old?

Answer: "All Together Now" and "When I'm 64"

"All Together Now" is played after Paul asks Old Fred how to start the submarine. Ringo pushes a button and the song begins to play as the submarine propels through the colorful sea. "When I'm 64", is played when the Beatles pass through the sea of time.

They begin to turn into children, John suggests that they move the hands on the clock forward. The clock spins out of control and the Beatles quickly grow very long beards. As the song is sung, they turn back into their original selves. "Eleanor Rigby" and "Yellow Submarine" play at the very beginning of the movie, before the Beatles start their journey. "Only A Northern Song" is the third song that the Beatles sing while in the sea of science, and "Nowhere Man" is sung to Jeremy, Hillary, or Boob, after they pass through the sea of monsters. "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" is sung in the Foothills of the Headlands, and "Hey Bulldog" is the second-to-last song played, coming before "Too Much".
7. When the Beatles venture into the sea of holes, Jeremy informs them that there are enough holes to fill what?

Answer: Albert Hall

The answer can be found in the song, "A Day In The Life", which is not played on Yellow Submarine (although the orchestral measure is played while the Beatles are about to plunge into the sea) but can be found on the album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". Blackburn, Lancashire is a real place in England, yet in "A Day In The Life", that is where the holes are located, not what they are enough to fill.
8. The sixties were a very colorful time period, which is strongly depicted in the Beatles' clothing in "Yellow Submarine". What is the colorful design on John Lennon's collar?

Answer: lime green with pink splotches

John never owned that particular piece of clothing in his real life, although John Lennon was a very colorful and outstanding person. Another part of his wardrobe in the movie, besides the Sgt. Pepper uniform, are his pants, which are purple with yellow and orange-red stripes.
9. The yellow submarine is obviously yellow, but there are a few other colors. Which of these colors is not on the submarine?

Answer: purple

The red coloring on the submarine, is the upper piping, the lenses on the telescopes at the top of the sub, and the propellers. The red also appears in the decorative design on the top section of the submarine which also includes blue and pink. The white outlines the telescopes.
10. During the "Hey Bulldog" scene, in the revised version, the blue, four-headed bulldog stuffs what into the clown's mouth?

Answer: a stick of dynamite

The Beatles and their duplicates (the real Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) try to outwit an evil clown and his strange pet bulldog. A bone is used by John to taunt the dog. Later, he gives the stick of dynamite to one of the dog's heads, the dog heads pass the dynamite around until one sticks it into the clown's mouth.
