Quaid, born on October 1st, 1950 in Houston, Texas was cast as Joe Aguirre. Joe ran a business in a small town in Wyoming and one day he told both Ennis and Jack to come inside so he could interview them for a job. Joe told both of them about a nearby mountain called Brokeback Mountain and how he needed the two to help him out there.

He mentioned he was looking for one to herd a bunch of animals and the other to maintain a camp site. Joe mentioned to them the rules regarding when they would eat and sleep, with both Ennis and Jack accepting those guidelines. Joe then took a phone call but hung up the phone shortly later.

He stated that he would take the two up the mountain the following day so they could see the place. Later on in the movie, Jack went back to talk to Joe about working on Brokeback Mountain for another summer but Joe refused to take Jack back, stating he slacked off too much. Quaid starred in the movies, "Not Another Teen Movie", "Hard Rain" and "Independence Day".

Answer: Jake Gyllenhaal

Gyllenhaal, a native of Los Angeles, California played Jack Twist. Jack introduced himself to Ennis after the two of them had been hired by Joe to work for him on Brokeback Mountain. Right after their interview, they visited a bar to get a couple drinks.

It was there they spoke and Jack mentioned to Ennis this was his second year residing in the area where Brokeback Mountain was. He stated there was a lightning storm the previous year, which resulted in numerous sheep dying. Jack asked Ennis if he ever participated in a rodeo since he had experience working there but Ennis said he had not done it often.

While Jack and Ennis worked, they developed a romantic relationship and made love on numerous occasions in the movie. For years, Jack and Ennis did not see each other but they reunited after they both got married. Jack, at one point, went to Mexico to befriend some male prostitutes after he and Ennis were on the outs.

It was reported that Jack died as a result of an explosion. Gyllenhaal was seen in the films, "Love and Other Drugs", "The Day After Tomorrow" and "Jarhead".

In 2006, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for "Brokeback Mountain" but lost to George Clooney for "Syriana". Other Oscar nominees for Best Supporting Actor that year were Paul Giamatti for "Cinderella Man", Matt Dillon for "Crash" and William Hurt for "A History of Violence".

Answer: Heath Ledger

Ledger, born in 1979 in Perth, Australia portrayed Ennis Del Mar. Ennis sat down by a fire one day with Jack, to tell him he had plans to save some money so then he could purchase his own house with Alma. Heath mentioned to Jack that Alma was his fiancée.

In a separate scene, he spoke to someone about some supplies he needed and then left to take his horse someplace. While Ennis dragged his horse down by a creek, they came upon a bear and the horse freaked out. Even though Ennis was engaged to Alma, he could not hide his love for Jack, even though he eventually tied the knot with her. Near the end of the movie, Ennis and Jack spoke about themselves as a couple and Ennis told Jack he was unable to quit caring about him. Ledger had roles in the movies, "The Dark Knight", "Monster's Ball" and "The Patriot".

In 2006, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for "Brokeback Mountain" but lost to Philip Seymour Hoffman for "Capote". Other Oscar nominees for Best Actor in a Leading Role that year were David Strathairn for "Good Night, and Good Luck", Terrence Howard for "Hustle & Flow" and Joaquin Phoenix for "Walk the Line". Ledger did win a posthumous Oscar for Best Supporting Actor at the 2009 Academy Awards for his portrayal of The Joker in "The Dark Knight".

Answer: Michelle Williams

Williams, born on September 9th, 1980 in Kalispell, Montana landed the role of Alma. Alma was Ennis's fiancée and both of them had their wedding near the beginning of the film. At the time the minister pronounced them as husband and wife, he joked that Ennis better kiss his wife or he would. Ennis and Alma shared a kiss, with their guests celebrating. Ennis and Alma went on to have two children, Alma, Jr. and Jenny, but Ennis still was attracted to Jack.

There was one instance, where Alma was doing the dishes, when Ennis came inside to kiss her and ask about the kids.

When Ennis and Jack reunited years after they first met on Brokeback Mountain, they kissed and Alma saw the kiss. Despite Ennis's best efforts to work things out with her, Alma decided it would be best to end their marriage. Williams had roles in the films, "Halloween H2O: 20 Years Later", "Shutter Island" and "Blue Valentine".

In 2006, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for "Brokeback Mountain" but lost to Rachel Weisz for "Runaway Jury".

Hathaway was cast as Lureen Newsome in "Brokeback Mountain". After Jack was denied an opportunity to work on Brokeback Mountain one summer, he met a rodeo rider named Lureen Newsome down in Texas, at a rodeo event. One night, Lureen went over to talk to Jack while he sat in a bar and asked him why he was waiting to speak with her. Jack eventually did talk with her and the two shared a dance at the bar. Right as they got outside, they began to make love and this blossomed into a relationship. The two ended up marrying but eventually Lureen divorced Jack, after she realized he was still attracted to Ennis. Right after Lureen's marriage to Jack ended, she took a job working for her father's business.

In another scene in the movie, Lureen became friends with Randall and Lashawn. Hathaway starred in the movies, "The Devil Wears Prada", "The Princess Diaries" and "Bride Wars".

Campbell, a native of Missoula, Montana portrayed Monroe. In one scene, Ennis took his kids to the grocery store where his wife worked and asked Monroe if he knew where she was. Monroe told him to check the condiments section since that was where he last saw her.

While Alma and Ennis spoke, one of the kids made a big mess and Alma apologized to Monroe over what happened. She promised Monroe she would clean it all up as soon as she called her sister to come and pick up her kids but Monroe assured her he had it handled. Monroe advised Alma's daughter to watch her feet while Alma carried her other daughter in her arms. Campbell guest starred on the TV series', "Brothers & Sisters", "CSI: Miami" and "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service".

Cardellini, born in 1975 in Redwood City, California played Cassie Cartwright. Cassie was a waitress and met Ennis one night while she was working. When she concluded her shift, she got him out onto the dance floor and introduced herself as Cassie while Ennis told her his name.

After they had a long dance, Ennis said he hoped he was finished dancing that night since his feet hurt so Cassie told him her feet also hurt. She asked Ennis what he did for a living so he told her he worked on a ranch. Cassie then put her foot in Ennis's lap so he asked her what she was doing.

She responded that she wanted Ennis to rub her foot so he began to rub it. Cassie, at one point, became upset with Ennis so he apologized to her. Cardellini guest starred on the TV shows, "Boy Meets World", "Step by Step" and "3rd Rock from the Sun".

McRobbie landed the role of John Twist. John was Jack's father and Ennis went to speak to him right after Jack died. Ennis offered to spread Jack's ashes all over Brokeback Mountain but John insisted they be buried in a family plot which they had. John spoke with Ennis about what Jack used to tell him about his relationship with Ennis and eventually Jack wanted to live with Ennis.

However, John stated that Jack then got involved with other people so he figured he would not make good on his promise to live his life with Ennis.

While at the Twists' home, John heard his wife tell Ennis that he was welcome to look in Jack's bedroom. McRobbie was seen in guest starring stints on the TV series', "Ugly Betty", "Law & Order: Trial by Jury" and "The Sopranos".

Harbour, born on April 10th, 1974 in New York was cast as Randall Malone. Randall spoke with Jack in one scene and Jack mentioned that Randall would like the job he just got working with Roy Taylor. Randall mentioned that he found Roy to be a good guy and he had a cabin down on Lake Kemp which had a boat Roy said he could use. Randall suggested to Jack they ought to head down to that cabin one weekend to have some drinks and go fishing.

In a separate scene, Jack and Randall got to talking about Randall's wife, Lashawn. Jack asked Randall why it was Lashawn and other women tended to powder their noses before and after a party. Randall said he did not have an answer to that question. Harbour guest starred on the TV shows, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", "Law & Order" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit".

Maxwell, a native of Ontario, Canada played Jack's mother. Jack's mother listened as her husband and Ennis spoke, so she then showed Ennis the way to Jack's room so he could take a look around there. After Ennis got done looking through Jack's room, Mrs. Twist asked Ennis if he would be able to visit her and her husband again so Ennis promised that he would keep in touch.

She then showed him the door and he said goodbye as he walked away from the Twists' home. This was the only scene where Jack's mother made an appearance in "Brokeback Mountain". Maxwell was seen in guest starring roles on the TV series', "Queer as Folk", "The Outer Limits" and "Law & Order".
