Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask
Answer: Purse Snatcher Strikes
A man (Lou Jacobi) who enjoyed wearing women's clothes was trying on some clothes in someone's house when someone knocked on the bedroom door. He didn't want them to see him in women's clothes so he climbed out the window and went outside. However, someone snatched his purse.
The people in the street saw what happened and called the police, thinking he was a woman, while he held up his hand to cover up his mustache. The movie by Woody Allen was inspired by questions in a sex manual.
2. Don't Look in the Basement
Answer: Judge Attacks Doctor
The movie was loosely based on an Edgar Allan Poe story ("The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether", 1845) in which mental patients were allowed to do just about anything they wanted to do. The movie began when an ex judge was chopping wood. He began chopping the psychiatrist.
A young woman showed up to be the new nurse at the secluded place. She was told that the doctor in charge was away, and she later learned that the woman she thought was a doctor was really one of the patients.
3. Million Dollar Duck
Answer: Housewife Sells Gold
A housewife (Sandy Duncan) took care of her husband's pet duck, unaware that it had been used in experiments with radiation. When the duck laid eggs which contained yolks made of gold, she began selling the gold at various places. She was eventually taken to court when the FBI wanted to know where she had gotten all of that undocumented gold.
4. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Answer: Enterprise Destroyed
The word "enterprise" could apply to different things in this movie. After the media uproar over the death of Spock in the second "Trek" movie, someone decided to turn the movies into a continuing story, much like the "Star Wars" movies. However, it's easy to forget the major event which was unlike anything else. Yes, they figured out how to bring Spock back to life, and Kirk and his crew disobeyed orders by going to the Genesis Planet to collect Spock's body, unaware that Spock was alive again.
The major event was what happened to the Starship Enterprise. For three seasons of a television series, a season of a cartoon series, and numerous "Star Trek" stories and novels, many adventures of Kirk and his crew happened on the Enterprise. Kirk saw the ship destroyed with an explosion, just to kill a few Klingons, the enemies of the Federation.
The crew was supposed to be given a different starship with a different name in the next movie, but it was eventually decided to let "Star Trek" continue with other ships called "Enterprise".
It wasn't the same.
5. The Ten Commandments
Answer: Moses Parts Sea
Books have listed "The Ten Commandments" as the biggest money making movie which came out in the 1950s. It told the biblical story of Moses who led the Israelites out of Egypt after God struck Egypt with ten plagues. When the Israelites were at the Red Sea, the Egyptians had changed their mind and were riding up to attack.
The voice of God told Moses to raise his rod. When he did, the Red Sea parted, allowing the Israelites to cross on dry land while the waters were piled up on each side. When the Egyptians entered, the waters closed over them, drowning them.
6. Blood and Lace
Answer: Frozen Orphans Found
A teenage girl (Melody Patterson) had murdered her mother and a man in bed, but she had amnesia, thinking a strange man had done it instead. She was sent to live at a strange orphanage for teenagers with mental problems. Whenever an orphan tried to escape, the man and woman who ran the place killed the orphan and stored the body in the freezer.
When the inspector came around, they put the frozen bodies in beds so they could receive government money for taking care of orphans. Eventually, the teenage girl found out what was going on and ran away.
7. Terror Train
Answer: Kenny Kisses Corpse
Medical students were giving a New Year's Eve party when they decided to play a trick on Kenny. They told him a girl was waiting in bed for him if he wanted to fool around. A woman (Jamie Lee Curtis) talked to Kenny, making him think she was in the bed. Kenny got in bed and kissed the woman in bed. Someone turned on the lights, and Kenny found out he just kissed a corpse from the morgue. Kenny went crazy and was locked up for three years.
The medical students were giving another New Year's Eve party, but this time it was on a train, and it was a costume party. Kenny killed a student, put on his costume, and got on the train as it began the trip. Most of the time, Kenny wore the costume of his last victim until he killed the next person and changed into that costume.
When bodies were discovered as the train raced down the tracks, no one knew who the killer was.
8. Die Hard
Answer: Explosion Kills Agents
The newspaper story might have included comments like this: "FBI agents Johnson and Johnson, no relation, arrived by helicopter to pick up hostages from Nakatomi Plaza. The hostages reentered the building when shots rang out. As the helicopter attempted to land, a bomb exploded, blasting the roof off the skyscraper, and burning up the helicopter with the agents inside. Dwayne T. Robinson, Deputy Chief of Police, was heard to say that he might send for more FBI agents." John (Bruce Willis) was in the building to go to a Christmas Eve party when the terrorists took over. John interfered with their plans.
9. Airport
Answer: Bomb Injures Stewardess
A newspaper article about the incident might've included these comments: "Tragedy struck tonight as an airplane made an emergency landing after a bomb exploded in the bathroom. The explosion injured a pregnant stewardess." The single stewardess was pregnant from the married pilot (Dean Martin).
A suicidal man with a bomb entered the bathroom after the people found out he planned to kill himself and everyone on the plane. The stewardess was knocking on the bathroom door begging the man to come out when the bomb exploded, knocking a hole in the plane where the bathroom was.
10. Carrie
Answer: Fire At Prom
Carrie found out she had telekinetic powers during the week leading up to the prom. She was surprised when a boy asked her to the prom, and they were picked to be the king and queen of the prom. While standing on the stage, someone pulled a rope which dumped a bucket of blood on Carrie.
She became angry and used her powers to spray water all over the gym. When the water hit the lights, an electrical fire spread. Carrie left, but her powers shut the doors, and the people inside died in the fire at the prom.
