Answer: The Ramones

The Ramones are considered the first punk band. They broke up in 1996. Joey, Johnny, and DeeDee Ramone all died shortly after the band's breakup.

U2 has released over a dozen albums, and they don't seem to be slowing down. U2 won five Grammys in 2005, one for each category they were nominated in, for their work on "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb".
