After winning 'Idol', Guy Sebastian was given a short time period to release his first album with BMG Australia.

Daryl Braithwaite was lead singer in Aussie band Sherbet before pursuing his solo career. 'The Horses' hit number one on the Aussie charts, and was named 'Song Of The Year' in 1991.
3. Kasey Chambers is now an Aussie pop singer, but before she started pop she sang country music. What was her first released solo COUNTRY album?

Answer: The Captain

She performed in a band with her family at a young age...inspired by country singers such as Slim Dusty.
4. In 2000, John Farnham performed in the Sydney Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. What was the name of the song he sang?

Answer: Dare to Dream

'Sadie' was Farnham's first ever hit, 'Absolutely Everybody' was sung by Vanessa Amorosi, and 'Advance Australia Fair' is, of course, our national anthem and was sung by Julie Anthony.
5. Which Australian band, originally from country New South Wales, redid the RamJams hit 'Black Betty'?

Answer: Spiderbait

The band originated from Finley, just north of the Murray River. A small farming community and where this author went to school :)
6. Olivia Newton-John released a duet with a deceased performer - who was he, and what was the song?

Answer: Peter Allen - 'Tenterfield Saddler'

Peter Allen died in 1992, but thanks to new age technology was still able to record the duet with Olivia. The song was released in 2002, 10 years after Peter died.
7. Before entering the music industry, Kylie Minogue played which character in which Australian long running soapie?

Answer: Charlene Mitchell in 'Neighbours'

Charlene Mitchell married Scott Robinson (played by Jason Donovan). Libby Kennedy (Kym Valentine) also left 'Neighbours' to pursue a music career, but in a totally different decade!

Answer: Frogstomp

The Silverchair boys released their first album when they were only 15.

Originally from St Clair, west of Sydney, the girls released songs such as 'Sister' and 'Whats A Girl To Do?' in 1999 and 2000.

Duncan Armstrong is an Australian swimmer, Bruce Gingell was the first Australian person on television, in 1956, and Barry John Mackenzie was a character in movies played by Barry Crocker.

Slim's daughter, Anne Kikpatrick, followed in his footsteps as a country singer.

An acoustic version of this song was re-released by lead singer James Reyne. It was originally released in 1983.

'Shine' is sung by Vanessa Amorosi, 'Poison' is sung by Popstars first year winners 'Bardot', and 'All by Myself' was redone by Air Supply for 'Bridget Jones' Diary'. 'Wasting Time' was the first release from Thirsty Merc.
13. Which Australian band was seen on a Telstra ad performing a cover of the famous Aussie song 'We Are Australian'?

Answer: Lo-Tel

This ad was on tv in the early 21st century, and showed the hardships of farmers and communities around Australia. The song, which has been covered by many bands, was originally penned by Bruce Woodley, of Seekers fame.
14. Which group sung the National Rugby League theme song for 2005?

Answer: Hoodoo Gurus

Their song 'What's My Scene?' was rewritten as 'That's My Team' for the NRL football promo.
15. Where is the group Taxiride originally from?

Answer: Melbourne

Taxiride started their music career in 1997 but didn't record their first demo until 1998.
