Answer: Talking Heads

Talking Heads only had one top ten U.S. hit, but they are one of the most influential bands of all time. Arguably the most notable example of their influence is their 1986 song "Radio Head", which ultimately became the name of another band that only had one major hit but was highly influential to major bands like Muse and Coldplay.
2. Deep Purple

Answer: Peter DeRose

Peter DeRose was a jazz composer from 1920-1953 (his death). Little did he know that his 1934 song "Deep Purple" would become the name of a rock band more than three decades later. He obviously couldn't know that because rock and roll had not even been invented yet.

Deep Purple were a hard rock band that experienced most of their popularity in the 1970s. They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. In the U.S., they are most famous for their iconic guitar riff in "Smoke on the Water," a song the band themselves weren't fond of but Americans loved.

Their song "Lucretia My Reflection" charted at number 20 on the U.K. singles chart and the Mountain Goats have covered the song in live concerts.

It has since been certified quadruple-platinum and has the hit songs "Voodoo," "Keep Away," and "Whatever." In their live shows, "Voodoo" is often followed by "La Batalla de Los Tambores" ("The Battle of the Drums") in which their two drummers play solos at the same time, each one of them trying to outplay the other.
