Black Box was one of the hottest Freestyle dance groups of the late 80s and early 90s. The Italian House Music group also hit it big with "Ride On Time" and "Strike It Up". One of their lead singers, Martha Wash, went on to further fame by working with C&C Music Factory.

Black Thought has released a number of solo singles but his version of Teddy Pendergrass' 70s classic "Wake Up Everybody" was recorded with The Roots.

One of the original Old School Rap duos, Black Sheep rose out of Queens in New York City.
