Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which classic Boston song begins with the following lyrics: "Day is night in New York City Smoke, like water runs inside Steel idle trees to pity Every living thing that's died"?

Answer: Hitch a Ride

One of my favorites from their self-titled debut album released in 1976. According to the Guinness World Record Book, "Boston" held the world record for the highest selling debut album of ALL TIME until dethroned in 2009 by Alanis Morisette's debut album "Jagged Little Pill."
2. These lyrics are a part of which of Boston's love songs: "And I, I never needed to lie Can'tcha see I believe in my heart what I'm sayin' It's love that you see You mean the world to me I'm prayin' for you"?

Answer: Livin' For You

From Boston's 1994 album "Walk On." Brad Delp, lead singer and co-founder of Boston, left the band from 1990 to 1995, making "Walk On" the band's only album to NOT have Delp on lead vocals. Fran Cosmo filled in for Delp, recording all the lead vocals for the album. In 1995, Delp returned to the band permanently and shared lead vocals with Cosmo for the '95 tour.
3. Which Boston anthem tells you to get out and have a good time with these lyrics: "I'm gettin' ready for a party tonight Yes, I'm gettin' ready to cruise And if you got something for me I got something for you"?

Answer: Party

The sixth track off 1978's "Don't Look Back" album. Always a crowd-pleaser at Boston's concerts.
4. Here's an easy one for you. What Boston song are these lyrics from: "No, we didn't have much money We barely made enough to survive But when we got up on stage And got ready to play People came alive"?

Answer: Rock & Roll Band

This was my absolute favorite song growing up! First song I ever knew all the words to. :) And, of course, it's off their debut album "Boston."
5. The Boston song these lyrics belong to peaked at number 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US: "Now, you're climbing to the top of the company ladder Hope it doesn't take too long Can'tcha see there'll come a day when it won't matter Come a day when you'll be gone"?

Answer: Peace of Mind

"I understand about indecision
I don't care if I get behind
People livin' in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind"

As one of Boston's most popular and recognizable songs, it's hard to believe it only reached number 38. "Peace of Mind" is also off their debut album.
6. Which Boston song says you should make the most of your journey, and has these lyrics: "You know what you want Well, maybe love is blind But it's alright, it's cool I just wanted you to know I had a really good time"?

Answer: I Had a Good Time

Off their low-key 2002 "Corporate America" album. The album was not very highly publicized, and is very hard to come by now. It didn't even merit a rating on the Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA) or the British Phonographic Industry's (BPI) sales charts.

It peaked at only 42 on the US Billboard 200 charts, but topped out at number three on the Top Independent Albums chart in America.
7. The blank in these lyrics is also the title to which of Boston's ballads: "I'm gonna take you by surprise And make you realize _______ I'm gonna tell you right away I can't wait another day _______ I'm gonna say it like a man And make you understand _______ I love you"?

Answer: Amanda

Off Boston's third album "Third Stage" (1986). "Amanda" is the band's only single ever to have made it to number one on the US Billboard charts. The album itself also stayed at number one on the US Billboard 200 charts for four weeks.
8. These lyrics belong to which Boston song that peaked the US Billboard Hot 100 charts at number four: "I can't see why it took so long Just to realize I'm much to strong now To close my eyes It's holding me down I'll turn it around Hey, don't you see the time is running Hey, see me on the road and running"?

Answer: Don't Look Back

The title track off their 1978 album. "Don't Look Back" is the last album Boston made with Epic Records. After this album, the band and the record company went to court over Boston's contract. Boston won the lawsuit and moved on to the MCA record label, but the lawsuit caused an eight-year gap between this and their next album "Third Stage."
9. Which song with the following lyrics is Boston's shout-out to science fiction lovers: "Well I saw her just as I was leaving Crossing in between the cars Sometimes seeing just is not believing Like a spaceship coming down from Mars"

Answer: What's Your Name

Off their fourth studio album "Walk On." The album peaked at number seven on the US Billboard 200 chart back in 1994.
10. Which Boston song about how much an old song can affect someone has the following lyrics: "I looked out this morning And the sun was gone Turned on some music To start my day I lost myself in a familiar song I closed my eyes and I slipped away"?

Answer: More Than a Feeling

Thought I'd end with another of Boston's most popular songs. This album topped out at number three on the US Billboard Pop Album charts back in 1976. "More Than a Feeling" was released as the album's single in the same year and topped out at number five on the US Billboard Pop Singles chart. Since then, Boston's "Boston" has gone 17x Platinum according to the RIAA.
