2. 1970

Not only did this album peak at number two on the Billboard 200, it also ranks at 175th of Rolling Stones Magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time in 2003.
3. 1971

This album won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo Or Group in 1972.

According to Richard Carpenter, the album 'A Song for You' had the intention of being a concept album with the title tune opening and closing the album and the rest comprising the 'song'.
5. 1973
Answer: Now & Then
The title was suggested by Karen and Richard's mother Agnes, instead of Richard and Karen themselves. The inspiration was taken from a leftover song that did not appear on the album.
6. 1975
Answer: Horizon
After five consecutive albums peaking inside the US top five from 1969-1973, Horizon broke this trend by only peaking at number 13.

By the time of the album's recording, Richard Carpenter's addiction to Quaaludes had begun to affect him professionally, and he blames this for the album being, in his opinion, sub-par.
