Answer: Trumpet

If you know that Daniel Johns played trumpet at school, you'd be interested to know that Chris Joannou also did.
2. How long did Chris took to learn how to play bass?

Answer: 3 months

Although when you play an instrument, you're constantly learning. Chris bought a bass off Ben Gillies for $100. Ben taught Chris some of the basics. In a total of three months, he learned how to play it.
3. In 2001, Chris became a producer. Which band did Chris help to produce their first record?

Answer: Elysium

He's paired up with engineering friend Matt Lovell (who has worked on each 'Chair album) to create a fun, part-time production team. Their debut workout was with a brand new band called Elysium. The group was a finalist in a demo competition called 'Leg Up' which was run by Australian music TV station, Channel V. Each artist in the final group received a free recording with a 'name' producer as part of their competition prize. Elysium drew the straw to work with Chris and Matt.
4. True or false -> Chris plays bass with his left hand.

Answer: False

Although Chris is left-handed, he uses his right hand to play his G&L basses.
5. What was the main highlight from the recording of 'Diorama' (for Chris of course)?

Answer: Hearing the orchestra while Van Dyke Parks was conducting.

In an interview, when asked about what would he consider to be the highlight from the recording of 'Diorama', he said -> "I sat in behind the orchestra in the live room and it was just amazing. Van Dyke Parks was out there conducting and I was just sitting behind the double-bass players.

It was just such a great feeling, to hear it without the music - just like a symphony playing basically - and then going back to the room and finally hearing it together with the band was unreal".
6. What is Chris's preference when it comes to his bass amplifiers?

Answer: Ampeg

Since the early days, Chris has stated his love for Ampeg amplifiers and G&L bass guitars.
7. 2003 was a great year for Silverchair: they toured all over the world to promote 'Diorama', and once again they were nominated for the ARIA awards, but this time they didn't win Channel V's 'Artist Of The Year' award. Who did?

Answer: Delta Goodrem

That's right, after winning 6 years in a row (in fact they've won it every year since it started!), the 2003 award was won by singer/songwriter Delta Goodrem. Chris and his bandmate Ben Gillies (Silverchair drummer) attended the ceremony and were very happy to pass the baton to her (but who knows - in the future they may have the chance to regain it).
8. What colour is Chris's bass in the 'Anthem For The Year 2000' video clip?

Answer: Yellow

10. True or False -> Tobin Finnanne taught Chris to play bass.

Answer: False

The musical history of Chris' life begins with Ben Gillies. Ben, Daniel, and Tobin Finanne, who were already part of a garage band (Innocent Criminals), needed a bassist. The three boys asked Chris to be their bassist. However, Chris didn't have a bass so he bought one off his longtime friend, Ben Gillies, for $100. Ben taught Chris some of the basics.
