They achieved success in the U.K. with the song "Yellow" which rose to number four on the U.K. chart. They elevated their success with their second album, "A Rush of Blood to the Head." That album contained the song "Clocks" which charted in at least 10 different countries, won a Grammy for "Record of the Year" and was included in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of top 500 songs of all time. 2005's "Speed of Sound" and 2008's "Viva la Vida" also charted in at least 10 different countries.
3. This man was the lead singer and songwriter for two successful bands: Soundgarden and Audioslave. What was his last name?

Answer: Cornell

Chris Cornell created the band Soundgarden, which was one of the pioneers of the 1990's grunge movement. That band has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and they created popular songs such as "Outshined," "Black Hole Sun," "Spoonman," and "Fell on Black Days."

Soundgarden broke up in 1997. Cornell then formed a band with musicians formerly of the band Rage Against the Machine. This new band was called Audioslave. They had success with their self-titled debut album which had popular songs such as "Like a Stone," "Cochise," and "Show me How to Live." However, each ensuing album was less popular than the last, and Audioslave broke up in 2007.

Soundgarden reunited in 2010 touring and recording together until 2017, when Chris Cornell hanged himself.
4. This singer/songwriter's debut album won five Grammies thanks to the hit songs "Ride Like The Wind" and "Sailing." What last name was he known by?

Answer: Cross

Christopher Cross was a soft rock musician. His hit song "Ride Like the Wind" is about a convicted criminal fleeing to Mexico so he can't be caught. That song went to number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart. His ballad "Sailing" went to number one on that chart. Both of these songs are on his eponymous debut album, which won five Grammies and has sold at least five million copies.

His second album, another page, has the song "Think of Laura" which was also in the top 10 on that chart.
5. This musician wrote the 1982 hit "Don't Pay The Ferryman." Who was he?

Answer: Chris de Burgh

Chris de Burgh is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He wrote the hit song "The Lady in Red" which charted at number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and it charted at number one in six different countries.

He also wrote and sang one of my all-time favorite songs, "Don't Pay The Ferryman." This song is about Greek Mythology. Specifically, it's about Charon, who ferries dead souls across the river Styx into Hades for a coin. The narrator of the songs warns you not to pay Charon until you get to Hades. The narrator warns you that Charon will try to con you out of your money before you get there. He says that you will hear voices shouting "Don't do it" and he warns you to listen to those voices. The line "Dancing bones that jabbered and moaned on the water" is a possible hint for what happens if you pay him before you get to the other side; it seems he knocks you off the boat into the river, where you remain for the rest of eternity and all you can do is join the other voices warning all of the dead souls after you, "Don't do it."
6. This man was the lead guitarist of the Foo Fighters. What was his last name?

Answer: Shifflet

Shifflet joined the Foo Fighters in 1999. His first album with the group was 2002's "One By One," which had the popular song "Times Like These" and the Grammy-winning song "All My Life." At least three albums that Shifflet played on have won the Grammy award for best Hard Rock album: "One By One," "Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace," and "Wasting Light."
7. This drummer and his older brother Nic formed the band Jet. What was his last name?

Answer: Cester

Be careful, he doesn't have an "h" in his last name. Chris Cester formed the Australian band Jet with his brother, singer Nic Cester, along with guitarist Cameron Muncey and bassist Doug Armstrong. Jet found success with their 2003 debut album, "Get Born," which was certified eight times platinum in Australia and platinum in four other countries. Chris Cester co-wrote the majority of Jet's songs.

He also single-handedly wrote the 2003 song "Timothy" and the 2009 song "She's a Genius."
8. This singer made a name for himself on "American Idol," then founded a successful band whose name is his last name. What name is that?

Answer: Daughtry

Daughtry made a name for himself when he came in 4th place on "American Idol" in 2006. He then formed his own band, which was called Daughtry. Their self-titled debut album went to number one on the Billboard top 200 Album chart. The song "Home" was played during the sixth season of "American Idol" every time a contestant was eliminated. That album also had a top 10 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart called "It's Not Over."
9. As a singer, he sang for the metal band Masters of Reality. As a producer, he worked with Queens of the Stone Age. What was his last name?

10. This multi-instrumentalist played for the Decemberists. What was his last name?

Answer: Funk

Some instruments that Chris Funk plays are the guitar, the piano, the violin, the saxophone, the harp, the banjo, and the mandolin. He played for the great folk rock band the Decemberists. Their 2011 album "The King is Dead" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the song "Down By The Water" was nominated for rock song of the year.
