Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which John gave us "Judy In Disguise (With Glasses)", and "Shirley"?

Answer: John Fred

Along with his Playboy Band, John Fred became a one hit wonder in 1968 with "Judy In Disguise", which reached Billboard's number one position that year. He had recorded the song "Shirley" way back in 1958, and rejected an invitation to appear on "American Bandstand" when asked.
2. This famous John was responsible for "Annie's Song", "Back Home Again", and "Sunshine On My Shoulders". Who was he?

Answer: John Denver

Of course, John Denver did all these songs, and many many more. "Annie's Song", a tribute to his wife, was a number one Billboard hit in 1974, as was "Sunshine On My Shoulders" that same year. "Back Home Again" reached number five in 1974 as well. Giving "Rocky Mountain High", or "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" as clue would have been way too easy.
3. Which popular John gave us "Rain On The Roof", "Summer In The City", and "Welcome Back Kotter"?

Answer: John Sebastian

Sebastian was the lead voice of the Lovin' Spoonful, one of the most popular American groups of the mid 60s. He embarked on a solo career and gave us the theme from the TV show "Welcome Back Kotter" which became a number one hit in the U.S.
4. This John had success as both a member of a group and a solo artist. He gave us "Proud Mary", "Centerfield", and "The Old Man Down The Road". What John was this?

Answer: John Fogerty

Fogerty was a co-founder of Creedence Clearwater Revival in the late 60's with such hits as the aforementioned "Proud Mary", "Susie Q", "Down on The Corner", and many more. His solo career spanned the 1970's and 1980's, with his biggest success coming in 1985 with the "Centerfield" album.
5. This John couldn't decide his name. He gave us "Jack and Diane", "Pink Houses", and "Small Town". Which John was this?

Answer: all are correct

John has recorded under all three names. He started as John Cougar from 1976 through 1982. He went to John Cougar Mellencamp from 1983-1990, and has used his birth name, John Mellencamp since then. Didn't matter which name he used. He was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2008.
6. This John from Great Britain gave us "Isn't It Time", "When I See You Smile", and "Missing You" as a lead singer and a soloist. Who was he?

Answer: John Waite

John Waite gave us "When I See You Smile" as a member of Bad English, gave us "Isn't It Time" as lead singer of the Babys, and also gave us the Billboard number one song "Missing You" as a solo artist.
7. This John gave us "Livin' On A Prayer", "I'll Be There For You", and "Blaze Of Glory". Who was this pretty boy?

Answer: Jon Bon Jovi

Mr. Bon Jovi (John Bongiovi Jr.)has been making hit music for over 20 years, both as the leader of his band, and as a solo artist. He also has acted in a number of movies, and owns the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League in the U.S.
8. This John was able to sing well enough to give us "Let Her In", "Sandy" and "Greased Lightning". Who was this guy?

Answer: John Travolta

"Greased Lightnin'" should have given it away. It, along with "Sandy" were from the "Grease" motion picture soundtrack. "Let Her In" was from 1976, when Travolta tried to cash in on his TV success on "Welcome Back Kotter". The song did well enough, reaching number ten on the Billboard U.S. charts, more due to the fact that it was Travolta, rather than the quality of the tune. Travolta also has been a part of over 50 films in his career.
9. Which John achieved some 1980's success with "Naughty Naughty", and "St. Elmo's Fire"?

Answer: John Parr

Parr is a British musician who had some immediate success in the U.S. with the release of "Naughty Naughty" which became a number one song in the U.S. He was also responsible for the theme song to the movie "St. Elmo's Fire", which also went to number one and was nominated for a Grammy Award.
10. How about "Woman", "Nobody Told Me", and "Mind Games". Which John is this?

Answer: John Lennon

Tough to stump anyone on this question. Giving a Beatles song would have been too easy. John's solo career lasted from the time of the group's breakup in 1970 until his murder in 1980.
