Question 1 of 10
1. Let's start out with a band we all know and love - the Beatles. They touched our hearts many moons ago and will be in our memories forever. Which of "The Fab Four" was the last to be born? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. If you want to talk about a consistent classic rock band, you needn't look past the Canadian rock band Rush. In a decade's span, they released their first 12 total albums (studio and live) from 1974-1984, meaning there were a few years in between when we saw more than one album from the band. Which of the following years did they NOT release more than one? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" might be one of the most popular songs not only of the 1970's, but in radio history. Hopefully, you didn't submit to the tune and completely disregard the seven remaining tracks. Could you tell me which song follows "Stairway" on their untitled 4th album often called "Zoso"? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Remember Mars Bonfire? You should - he wrote Steppenwolf's popular rebellious hit "Born to be Wild." But not many know him off the stage. What is his real first name? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. When drugs weren't the vocal point of rock and roll, women usually were. But not all songs about them were positive. There's one in particular where Glenn Frey talks about a woman who's "headin' for the cheatin' side of town". Yikes! On which of the Eagles albums can I find this track? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Remember Woodstock? It was deemed "An Aquarian Exposition: Three Days Of Peace and Music." Well, it wasn't all peaceful, but there was a LOT of music. 32 acts performed altogether, to be exact. Which of the following bands did NOT participate in the Woodstock Festival in 1969? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Who here doesn't like that old time rock and roll? If you went out to a restaurant or bar back in the day and this song didn't play at least one on the Jukebox machine, a lot of people would be going home in frustration. But let's go back in time before Bob hit it big. What was the name of Seger's first band? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Take "Bohemian Rhapsody" for what it is. Some call it an ingenious mock opera, others praise the second half of the song as the heaviest recording music Queen's ever done and some even look at it as art rock. But I'll bet you don't know the B-side to that song? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. The frustrating thing for all the great rock artists of yester-year is this: thanks to i-tunes and other music sites, fans buy greatest hits rather than the original albums that were meant to be heard in a specific order. Which of the following bands' best-selling albums is NOT a greatest hits compilation? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. When released, Boston has the 2nd highest grossing total for a debut album in history, behind only "Appetite for Destruction" by Guns 'N Roses. Unfortunately for them, their debut might as well have been their Greatest Hits, because they were under so much pressure to match the success of their 1976 self-titled masterpiece, their career pretty much fell off the face of the earth when the 1970's was all said and done. To this point, how many other studio albums have we seen from the band BESIDES their debut? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's start out with a band we all know and love - the Beatles. They touched our hearts many moons ago and will be in our memories forever. Which of "The Fab Four" was the last to be born?

Answer: George Harrison

In order from the first to the last born, we have Ringo Starr (July 7th, 1940), John Lennon (October 9th, 1940), Paul McCartney (June 18th, 1942) and finally, George Harrison (February 25th, 1943).

Answer: 1978

The only offering we got from them in '78 was "Hemispheres" and it was their fourth consecutive gold album. Rush released "Fly By Night" and "Caress of Steel" in 1975 (both studio efforts). The following year, they put out "2112" (studio) and "All the World's a Stage" (live). Finally, in 1981, we got "Moving Pictures" (studio) and "Exit...Stage Left" (live).

Answer: Misty Mountain Hop

The track listing, in order, looks like this:

1. "Black Dog"
2. "Rock and Roll"
3. "The Battle of Evermore"
4. "Stairway to Heaven"
5. "Misty Mountain Hop"
6. "Four Sticks"
7. "Going to California"
8. "When the Levee Breaks"
4. Remember Mars Bonfire? You should - he wrote Steppenwolf's popular rebellious hit "Born to be Wild." But not many know him off the stage. What is his real first name?

Answer: Dennis

He was born Dennis Eugene McCrohan in Ontario, Canada on April 21st, 1943. Gerald, his brother, was also in the band as the drummer. It's worth noting that they both changed their surnames to Edmonton in the early 1960's before the band was officially called Steppenwolf.
5. When drugs weren't the vocal point of rock and roll, women usually were. But not all songs about them were positive. There's one in particular where Glenn Frey talks about a woman who's "headin' for the cheatin' side of town". Yikes! On which of the Eagles albums can I find this track?

Answer: One Of These Nights

The song, of course, is "Lyin' Eyes" and was the second single on the album. It peaked at number two on the Billboard Top 100 only behind Elton John's "Island Girl". Don Henley also helped write the song.

Answer: The Moody Blues

Unlike the rest of the bands that backed out at the last minute, the Moody Blues were supposed to be one of the key attractions, as they were on the original Wallkill poster. But they were booked in Paris that same weekend and declined. CCR and Mountain performed on Saturday and Blood, Sweat and Tears performed Sunday.
7. Who here doesn't like that old time rock and roll? If you went out to a restaurant or bar back in the day and this song didn't play at least one on the Jukebox machine, a lot of people would be going home in frustration. But let's go back in time before Bob hit it big. What was the name of Seger's first band?

Answer: The Decibels

This was a tricky one for those that aren't hardcore fans of Seger. He joined the Decibels in his sophomore year of High School in 1961. It was there that he wrote his first two songs, "The Lonely One" and "Jackie the Thief". The former of the two tracks was the first Seger song to ever hit the radio.

His first label came with "The Last Heard" (Cameo-Parkway) before going out of business.
8. Take "Bohemian Rhapsody" for what it is. Some call it an ingenious mock opera, others praise the second half of the song as the heaviest recording music Queen's ever done and some even look at it as art rock. But I'll bet you don't know the B-side to that song?

Answer: I'm In Love With My Car

'39 was the B-side to "You're My Best Friend", "White Man" was the B-side to "Somebody to Love" and "You and I" was the B-side to "Tie Your Mother Down". The song, like a lot of Queen's work, was thought of as a joke more than anything else. Freddie Mercury actually refused to sing the lead vocals in it, so Roger Taylor handled them instead.
9. The frustrating thing for all the great rock artists of yester-year is this: thanks to i-tunes and other music sites, fans buy greatest hits rather than the original albums that were meant to be heard in a specific order. Which of the following bands' best-selling albums is NOT a greatest hits compilation?

Answer: Meat Loaf

This was probably one of the easier questions you've seen on this quiz. "Bat Out of Hell" (1977) is 14x platinum here in America and 7x platinum in the UK. Elton John's Greatest Hits from 1974 is more than 17x platinum, Journey's Greatest Hits from 1988 is over 15x platinum and the Steve Miller Band's Greatest Hits (1974-78) is 13x platinum.

But none of those three have a studio album that's even hit 10x platinum yet.

Answer: 5

"Don't Look Back" (1978)
"Third Stage" (1986)
"Walk On" (1994)
"Corporate America" (2002)

Judging by this pattern, we were all expecting an album by 2010 since they started a trend of releasing one every eight years. But Brad Delp unfortunately passed in 2007 due to apparent suicide that involved a charcoal grill. He left a note that his fiancee found that stated "I'm a lonely soul." We will all miss him dearly. A new album was released in 2013

Thanks to all who took my quiz and I hope you learned something new today. Keep rocking out!
