Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Alright to all Clayniacs, good luck! Let's start slow. What place did Clay get on the "American Idol" (season 2)?

Answer: 2nd

Alas! But out of the 24 million votes, Clay got 49.72% of them.
2. Which three songs did he sing on the final night of the competition, the final battle with Reuben?

Answer: "This is the Night", "Here, There and Everywhere", "Bridge over troubled water"

"Vincent", "Mack the Knife", and "Unchained Melody" were sung on the night with the top three.
3. By the way, we've been talking about Clay for a bit. What is his "actual" name?

Answer: Clayton

His full name is Clayton Holmes Aiken.

By the way, his official site is www.ClayAiken.com. And another big site dedicated to him is www.ClaytonAiken.com. So there, Clay = Clayton.
4. When Clay chose "Unchained Melody" as the favourite song to sing, he said it's the favourite song of someone special of his. Who is that someone?

Answer: his mom

You bet!
Clay doesn't have a girlfriend now according to himself (2003). And he hasn't been involved in a serious relationship. So good news for the lady fans out there?
5. Clay had a second CD single released after the American Idol with only ONE song. What is the name of that song?

Answer: "Invisible"

Clay's first single, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" b/w "This Is the Night", went platinum - the first single to do so in the period of its release since Elton John's "Candle in the Wind 1997" (dedicated to the late Princess Diana).

"Miss Independent", by the way, is the title of a single released by Kelly Clarkson, the former American Idol.
6. This could be a bit tough. Clay sang "Always and Forever" in the Atlanta audition. However, there was audition in Charlotte prior to that, which was "an audition that guarantees an audition in Atlanta". What did Clay sing in that Charlotte audition?

Answer: Somewhere Over the Rainbow

In fact, Clay didn't win in the Charlotte audition. The comment from the judge panel was that he had the voice, but not the look for an idol. At that time, Clay still wore glasses and had red hair, a bit too "regular" compared to the stylish look on stage later on in the competition. Clay eventually went to the Atlanta audition himself and advanced on.
7. This should be no problem to a real fan as you've been waiting this for a long time already. When was the CD "Measure of A Man" released in the USA?

Answer: Oct 14, 2003

"Measure of A Man" was a SOLD-OUT at a lot of places around North America during the first week! For friends in UK, you needed to wait till Nov10,03 to hear his voice.
8. In the album "Measure of A Man", which song has the lyrics "So don't ask me to describe, I get all CHOKED up inside"?

Answer: The Way

Even if you don't get this one, you would remember hearing "all CHOKED up inside" in one of the songs. Just didn't know which one.
9. In the album "Measure of A Man", which song mentions all the "sun", "moon", and "stars"?

Answer: Shine

Here are where explicitly they appear:
"shadows fall across the SUN sometimes",
"Baby let's go run to those shooting STARS",
"Watch the crescent MOON smile to your heart".
10. The last one is supposed to be the tougest, so here it goes. Clay had a bunch of demos recorded before the "American Idol". For all the songs he sang, pick out the one with lyrics that are NOT Christian/Gospel related.

Answer: Still the One

"Go the Distance": "Someone had to span the globe, So Jesus said I will...Father I will take the cross, I will go the distance."

"In Not Of": "So I promise to stay here close beside You,
Surely God would want His children safe."

"Blood Will Never Lose its Power": "The blood that Jesus shared for me...It will never lose it's power."

"Still the One": "Changing, our love is going gold.
Even though we grow old, it grows new." A hit from the 70s (I believe), nothing particularly related to gospel though.
