Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I saw this 70s hard rocker, 80s metalhead play the Worcester Centrum in Massachusettes on 11-19-86. First, he beat up an inflatable woman, then a guillotine was brought on stage and his head was chopped off?

Answer: Alice Cooper

50-50. 'Computer take 2 answers away' Alice or Ozzy. Ozzy isn't as theatrical as Alice. He was routinely decapitated, hanged or electrocuted at his shows. This was my first concert, at age 16. {$14.50,} very reasonable. A great show from a great showman!
2. 3 days after that show, 11-22-86, I saw this constantly touring, pioneer punk band at Cohen Auditorium, Tuft's University. They played about 30 songs in an hour and a half, including 'Blitzkrieg Bop', but not 'Pet Sematary'?

Answer: The Ramones

I've seen them 10 times since then at various places, like The Channel in Boston and The Living Room in Providence. As a whole, they were my favorite concerts because they were the most fun. 6 bucks for that show, what a bargain.
3. I am a 'Parrot Head', having seen this performer at the former Great Woods Performing Arts Center on 7-8-89 and 8-18-90 (Fins to the left, fins to the right)?

Answer: Jimmy Buffett

Another show that is great fun, although I had lawn seats, way in the back, both times. 21 and 25 dollars, but that included parking.
4. I waited in line overnight to get tickets for 'The Steel Wheels Tour' that hit Foxboro Stadium on 10-1-89, by this legendary British band?

Answer: The Rolling Stones

It payed off with 5th row seats, one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I went again in '94, the tickets jumped from 28.50 to 50.00. Yikes!
5. I saw this 'Piano Man' twice on 12-13-89 and 11-6-93 at The Centrum In Worcester. One tour was called 'River of Dreams Tour '93'(He didn't start the fire)?

Answer: Billy Joel

I sat behind the stage, but he was cool. It seemed like he played to us in the back more than he did to the whole stadium in the front.
6. I got to see this Boston band play Great Woods on 6-26-90 supporting their 'Pump' album.

Answer: Aerosmith

I got the tickets from a scalper, so I don't remember what I payed, but face value was 24.00, still not that bad. A great live band.
7. This 'Hard To Handle' band from Atlanta played the Orpheum Theatre in Boston on 8-29-92. 'Twice as Hard', I saw them again 4-8-93 at the Worcester Memorial Auditorium?

Answer: The Black Crowes

It's difficult to see Chris Robinson with that microphone stand in front of him. They can rock live.
8. This frontman for the Delaware Destroyers played the Orpheum on 11-18-93?

Answer: George Thorogood

Another guy who gives it his all on stage. And what a motley group of fans you'll meet at a Thurogood show.
9. On Sat, 9-30, I don't know what year, Mick Jones of the Clash played The Channel with a raggae incarnation of this band?

Answer: Big Audio Dynamite

Mick got upset because the Clash fans in the audience started slam dancing, and he feared someone would get hurt. Night clubs are the best places to see bands.
10. This 'Excitable Boy' played The Paradise in Boston Feb 2, 1994, and played the song 'Lawyers, Guns, And Money'?

Answer: Warren Zevon

This show was general admission for 15 dollars, and I think it was accoustic.
11. On 4-11-94, six days after Kurt Cobain killed himself, I was lucky enough to see Seattle grunge band, fresh off their Vitalogy album, at the Boston Garden?

Answer: Pearl Jam

I paid {$75} for {$18} seats, and they weren't good seats (one guy told me he paid {$400!),} but the show was amazing. Vedder was incredible singing 'Alive' and he had a sign that read 'Hole' with a circle and a line through it.
12. Another great weekend. 8-19-94, I saw The Ramones at the Hampton Beach Casino in New Hampshire. On 8-22-94, at The Centrum, I saw this Scott Weiland band play 'Sex Type Thing' and 'Interstate Love Song'?

Answer: Stone Temple Pilots

I was still hungover from the Ramones show. They were OK, bringing a couch on stage and sitting down to perform accoustically.
13. This wasn't a concert, but it did have rock music. On 11-19-94, I got some culture at The Wang Center in Boston when I saw a production of what Pete Townsend rock opera?

Answer: The Who's Tommy

'Tommy' is the only one show that has had a major tour. 'Lifehouse', which became Who's Next, didn't actually get performed in its entirety until 1999. I don't know if it will come to Boston. Culture is expensive, at 67.50 a pop, plus those fees that ticket services charge you.
14. On 9-12-96, Robert Smith drunkenly lip synched 'Friday I'm In Love', and other songs by which band at Great Woods?

Answer: The Cure

Only 20 bucks, but still a ripoff. When he spoke, you couldn't understand a word he said, but when he sang, it was like listening to the CD. Coincidence? I don't think so!
15. On 7-31-97, I had Row B(!) to see who perform the entire Quadrophenia album, plus selected greatest hits, at Great Woods?

Answer: The Who

Pay no attention to that question 2 numbers above! I was so close, Roger Daltry could have hit me in the head with his microphone! It was a steal at 53.50 + 5.75 for Next Ticketing (greedy).
16. Who was the female singer I saw 8-19-97 at Harborlights Pavilion in South Boston singing songs from her '93 Tuesday Night Music Club and her '96 self titled album?

Answer: Sheryl Crow

I saw her again 5-5-99 at the Orpheum. She didn't like the stuffy crowd at Harborlights, telling them to 'Lighten up, you're at a rock concert!' Too many suits in the audience.
17. I finally got to see what band, my favorite, on their 'PopMart Tour '97',7-2-97, at Foxboro Stadium, after regretfully missing the 'Zoo TV Tour'?

Answer: U2

I can't wait for the next tour!
18. Sometime in the late 1990's, I saw this 1970's band that recorded the 'That 70's Show' theme along with 'Surrender' and had a huge album 'Live At Budokan'?

Answer: Cheap Trick

I lost my ticket stub, but I had a great time. Letters To Cleo warmed them up.
19. On Oct 9, 1998, I had success at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, and also saw this old timer perform 'What's New, Pussy Cat?' and 'It's Not Unusual'?

Answer: Tom Jones

He put on a pretty good show, and the extra 200 dollars in my pocket was nice, too.
20. I returned to Foxwoods 10-1-99 to see this swing band rock the crowd with songs like 'I Wanna Be Like You', 'Who's That Creepin'?', and 'You And Me And The Bottle Makes Three'?

Answer: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

I didn't have any luck that night, but that band can really get a crowd moving!
