Born April of 1928 in North Carolina, Don Gibson (nicknamed the Sad Poet) died of natural causes in Nashville, TN in November of 2003. In 2001, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Born 1937 in Atlanta, GA, Reed died 2008 in Nashville, TN. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2005.

In June of 2007, Mel became a member of the Grand Ole Opry and in October of that year he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 1976 he received CMA's Entertainer of the Year award.

He is the father of six children including country singer Pam Tillis.
