Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the main lead singer for Foreigner when they released their first album in 1977?

Answer: Lou Gramm

Dennis Elliot was their drummer, Ed Gagliardi was the bass guitarist, and Al Greenwood was on the keyboards. Mick Jones was also with the band and played lead guitar. Gramn left the band in 1988 and Johnny Edwards took over lead vocals in 1991. Mick Jones has the most credits to his name overall, but did not start out as their lead singer.
2. Which album did Foreigner release in 1981?

Answer: 4

"4" is one of their better-known albums and included songs such as "Waiting for a Girl Like You", "Jukebox Hero", and "Urgent".
3. What is the next line in Foreigner's classic hit, "Jukebox Hero"? "That one guitar, felt good in his hands, didn't take long, to understand, just one guitar, swung way down low, was a one way ticket, ___________"

Answer: Only one way to go

"Juke Box Hero" is one of Foreigner's most popular and recognizable songs. It is one of my personal favorites (after all, "He had stars in his eyes". How can you not like a guy with stars in his eyes? ;)
4. In another popular Foreigner song, they compare a partner from a relationship to something pretty cold. Which temperature best describes what they are comparing this person to?

Answer: 32 degrees Fahrenheit

This is their smash hit, "Cold as Ice". Water freezes and becomes ice at 32 degrees Farenheit. It would be 0 degrees on the Celsius scale. The Kelvin scale uses units instead of degrees and its equivalent would be 273 Kelvin units.
5. "And I know that it must be the woman in you That brings out the man in me I know I can't help myself You're all that my eyes can see" Which song are these lyrics from?

Answer: Feels Like the First Time

"Feels Like the First Time" is off of their self-titled album, "Foreigner", and was released in 1977.
6. What was the reason that they named their band "Foreigner"?

Answer: Half of the band was American and half was English

Mick Jones, the "leader" of the band, suggested the name to their manager at the time, Bud Prager.
7. Lou Gramn had a brain tumor.

Answer: True

After leaving the band in 1991, Lou Gramn returned just two years later in 1993 after "Unusual Heat" was released and was not as popular as some of their earlier albums. He was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in 1997, just one day before getting ready to leave for Japan to tour.

He recuperated and re-surfaced in the 1998 tour in America. (Information gathered from a 1997 press release issued by Hard to Handle Management.)
8. Finish the lyric: "Well, I'm hot blooded, check it and see I got a fever of _____".

Answer: 103

This was off of their second album, "Double Vision".
9. Dennis Elliot left the band to tour with Ozzy Osbourne.

Answer: False

Dennis Elliot retired from the band after the album "Unusual Heat" did not bring the same success as the earlier albums. The new drummer was Mark Schulman. Schulman left a year later and joined "Simple Minds". He then re-joined the band in 2000, replacing Brian Tichy. It was Tichy who left in 2000 to tour with Ozzy. Schulman left in 2001 to tour with Cher.
10. "I Want to Know What Love Is" (and by the way... I do!) can be heard in which of the following movie soundtracks?

Answer: Mr. Wrong

"Hot Blooded" can be heard on the soundtrack for "Vision Quest", "Footloose" contains "Waiting for a Girl Like You", and "Cold as Ice" is in "FM"!
