This song was inspired by his wife, Claudette and reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in September, 1964. The song is about a lonely man who yearns for a woman who has just walked by him. She also is lonely and turns and joins him.
2. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"

Answer: The Rolling Stones

The song was released in 1965 and became The Rolling Stones' first number one hit in the USA. In the UK it was only played on pirate radio stations as it was thought to be too sexually suggestive for the establishment. It eventually became The Rolling Stones' fourth number one hit in the UK.

"Baby Love" topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in October, 1964. It was their second hit to top the US charts after "Where Did Our Love Go" in August 1964.

"The Twist" was originally released by Hank Ballard and The Midnighters in 1959. However, it was Chubby Checker's version that started the Twist dance craze. It reached number one in the USA in September, 1960. It was also relaunched and again reached number one in January, 1962.

"Tossin' and Turnin'" spent seven weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 from July 7, 1961. It was one of only six songs that spent at least seven weeks at number one in the 1960s. In the 1978 film "Animal House" it was featured on the soundtrack.
8. "The Loco-Motion"

Eva Narcissus Boyd (1943-2003) was better known by her stage name Little Eva. "The Loco-Motion" was originally written for Dee Dee Sharp but she turned it down. Sung by Little Eva it reached number on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1962. It was also recorded by an American band, Grand Funk Railroad, and it reached number one in the USA in 1974.

The Australian singer Kylie Minogue also recorded the song and it reached number three in the USA in 1988.
9. "I Get Around"

The song was written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love. It reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks starting July 4, 1964. "I Get Around" became the group's first number one in the USA.
10. "I Want to Hold Your Hand"

Answer: The Beatles

Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney it was the first Beatles single to reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 which was in February 1964. It stayed at number one for seven weeks before being replaced by their hit "She Loves You".
