Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many songs were on the original US release of "Nimrod" in 1997?

Answer: 18

The songs on the original US release were: "Nice Guys Finish Last", "Hitchin' a Ride", "The Grouch", "Redundant", "Scattered", "All the Time", "Worry Rock", "Platypus", "Uptight", "Last Ride In", "Jinx", "Haushinka", "Walking Alone", "Reject", "Take Back", "King for a Day", "Good Riddance", and "Prosthetic Head". Best album ever!
2. In the song "Misery", where did they find Vinnie?

Answer: In a Cadillac

This song is from the album "Warning", released in 2000. It tells brief stories about Virginia, Gina, Vinnie, and Mr. Whirly.
3. Which of the following lines is from "Minority"?

Answer: A face in the crowd, unsung against the mold

"Minority" was a track on the "Warning" (2000) album.

The other lyrics are from different Green Day songs:

"Christmas lights in the middle of August" is from "Deadbeat Holiday".
"This is how I'm supposed to be" is from "Jesus of Suburbia".
"Can't take anymore" is from "Take Back".
4. In the song "Haushinka", the singer has all of the following memories EXCEPT:

Answer: a trailer

Billie Joe Armstrong reputedly wrote this song for a girl he met on a Japanese tour, five years prior to its release. The song was on "Nimrod". It's one of my favorites off that album.
5. Finish the lyrics: "Red eye, code blue I'd like to ____ you"

Answer: strangle

The lyrics are from "Platypus (I Hate You)". The song is on "Nimrod". I think it's a great song to sing to someone you hate.
6. In "Viva La Gloria!", what did Gloria smash her knuckles into?

Answer: Winter

"Viva La Gloria!" was about the character Gloria, found on the rock opera "21st Century Breakdown". There was also another song on the album about Gloria, titled "żViva la Gloria? (Little Girl)".
7. Who is not one of the characters in the musical "American Idiot"?

Answer: Christian

The play had several shows on Broadway. Christian was a character in "21st Century Breakdown" (2009), along with Gloria.
8. What line is not from the song "Best Thing in Town"?

Answer: lie and celebrate

"Lie and celebrate" is heard in "Sweet Children", a song on "Kerplunk". The album was released on January 17, 1992. It was, in my opinion, seriously underrated.
9. Which of these songs has a guitar solo?

Answer: Only of You

A lot of songs by Green Day have solos. "Only of You" appeared on "1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours", released in 1991. This song is my favorite.
10. Complete this line from "Peacemaker": "Well call of the ____, hey hey!"

Answer: banshee

"Peacemaker" has some unusual lyrics like "Neo-Saint Valentine massacre" and "For I am a Caesar, I'm gonna seize the day". The song was on "21st Century Breakdown".
