Answer: Where've You Been

"Where've You Been" was the third single from the "Willow In The Wind" album. The song wasn't intended to be released as a single, due to the sad subject matter; no one believed it would do well at country radio. The song went on to win Kathy her first Grammy award and is still considered her signature song by many.
5. Kathy married song writer Jon Vezner, the co-writer of "Where've You Been." How many of Vezner's songs did Kathy record on her "Time Passes By" album?

Answer: 3

Vezner co-wrote the title cut with Susan Longacre.

8. Which Nanci Griffith song did Kathy record on her "Lonesome Standard Time" album?

"Amarillo" was included on the "Lonesome Standard Time" album, but it wasn't a Griffith song. "Amarillo" was written by Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell.

Answer: Because of a tattoo

12. Speaking of Mattea's 1997 single, what is the subject matter of "455 Rocket?"

Answer: a baby blue Oldsmobile

The song opens up with the lyrics, "Mr Smith had an Oldsmobile, baby blue with wire wheels."
Mattea mentions The Beach Boys in the recorded version of the song, however when she performs it live, she usually changes the lyrics to reflect the "hottest" person of the day. Example, "As I skid I thought I heard the angels sing, sounded like Taylor Swift".
13. "She Came From Fort Worth" was Kathy's first US single released in the 1990s; which was the last US one released in the 1990s?

Answer: Patiently Waiting

Although "Patiently Waiting" never made it onto the US Billboard Country charts, it was the fourth and final single released from the "Love Travels" album. "Love Travels" was the last of Mattea's singles from the 1990s to make it onto the Billboard chart, peaking at number 39.
