Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Mother's Getting Weaker", what did King do with the phone Missy gave him so he could call for help?

Answer: Cut the wire

At this time in the song, King was under the control of "them" and did not care, nor did he want any help.

"Them" was King Diamond's third album, released in 1988. It was a full concept album. Two of King Diamond's studio albums were half-concepts instead of being whole concept albums like "Them". Those two were "Fatal Portrait" and "The Spider's Lullabye".
2. In the song "A Broken Spell", "they" had been searching for something in the basement after King escaped the house and "they" found it. What was it?

Answer: A big axe

According to the lyrics, after Missy broke the teapot that summoned "them", "they" got angry and killed Missy with an axe and burned her remains in the fireplace. The song was written by King Diamond and Andy LaRocque.
3. In "A Broken Spell", King saw smoke coming out from the chimney when he regained consciousness. What was this smoke actually?

Answer: All that was left of Missy and her dress

After King escaped the house, he saw smoke from the chimney and realized that the smoke was the remains of his dead sister. The album that was released after "Them" was called "Conspiracy" and it followed up on the story of "Them". "Conspiracy" came out in 1989.
4. What was the name of the doctor that came to the house to look at King in the song "Twilight Symphony"?

Answer: Dr. Landau

After all the horror, police and ambulances came to the house to investigate, and a psychiatrist came to look at King. This doctor was called Dr. Landau.

The album was released by Roadrunner Records.
5. What was the name "they" gave the house as mentioned in the song "The Invisible Guests"?

Answer: Amon

This was the name that the grandmother and "them" called the family's house. On the remastered version of the album there were three bonus songs: "The Invisible Guests (Rehearsal)", "Phone Call", and "Bye, Bye Missy (Rehearsal)". Rehearsal versions of "The Invisible Guests" and "Bye, Bye Missy" featured King and Andy on guitars, Mikkey on drums and Timi Hansen on bass.
6. Where is "their" power the weakest as said in "A Broken Spell"?

Answer: Outside of the house

After the teapot was broken, King went out of the house and realized that "their" power was less out there. His mind and body began to fight for control, and King finally won and passed out. Later, instead of running away, he decided to go back in and confront his grandmother. "A Broken Spell" was written by King Diamond and Andy LaRocque.
7. In "The Accusation Chair", King came back from outside and went to confront his grandmother. What was very important for King to do?

Answer: Clear his mind

It was important for King to clear his mind so "they" wouldn't read it. His plan was to finish it once and for all, and to do that he wanted to bring his grandmother outside the house where "their" power was at its weakest so he could kill her.

Kim Bendix Petersen (aka King Diamond) formed the heavy metal band King Diamond after the split-up of his heavy metal band Mercyful Fate.
8. When King ran away after killing his grandmother, he fainted and dreamed about something in the song "The Accusation Chair". What was his dream about?

Answer: Dreaming he was one of "them"

After killing his grandmother, King ran into the woods as far as he could until he fainted again, going insane, dreaming he was one of "them".

When King Diamond was in the band Mercyful Fate, the focus of the stories was more Satanic. This was replaced by a focus on horror stories as King Diamond.
9. What does King says to the doctor in the song "Twilight Symphony"?

Answer: "I did what I did and I'm glad I did, 'cos I could have been the...I could have been the next in line"

King decided to tell the doctor all that happened, thinking he had nothing to lose. Then the doctor labeled King insane and sent him to a mental hospital.

By 2010, King Diamond had released twelve studio albums.
10. In "Welcome Home", what was the answer Grandmother gave King when he asked, "Grandma, who are 'they'?"

Answer: "Never mind, you dirty little brat"

This conversation took place when Grandmother first arrived in the house, back from a mental hospital. Grandmother started telling King about "them". King, curious, asked his grandmother about "them" and she answered "never mind, you dirty little brat".

The song "Welcome Home" was featured in the movie "Clerks II".
