Answer: Nirvana

This was one of the great songs on the 'Nevermind' album that made them famous. These lyrics were taken from 'Come as you are'.
2. 'I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo, what the hell am I doing here?'

Answer: Radiohead

'Creep' gave Radiohead unexpected worldwide fame.
3. 'Cut my life into pieces, this is my last resort'

Answer: Papa Roach

This reached number 2 in the UK charts, starting the flood of nu- metal acts that dominated later in the year. These lyrics were taken from 'Last Resort'.
4. 'And it all breaks down at the role reversal, got the muse in my head'

Answer: Placebo

This song allowed 'gothrockers' Placebo to storm into the UK charts in '96. This song was of course 'Nancy Boy'.

The Welsh political band the Manics played for Fidel Castro in Cuba. Amazingly this lyric was also the name of the song, although it was shortened to 'If you tolerate this...' when it came out as a single.

American band Linkin Park named themselves after Lincoln Park in their homeland, but changed the spelling so that they could make a website. This came from the hit single 'Papercut'.

Answer: Cast

Cast, who recently split, tried to give their debut album a retro '60s feel by using recording equipment with 1960s dust still on it. This lyric came from 'Sandstorm', one of their best singles.
