Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which line completes this often misquoted lyric: "I'm sailing away..."?

Answer: Set an open course for the virgin sea

"...birds and sea" is a common misquote of "Come Sail Away", off the 1977 "Grand Illusion" album.
2. Which line completes this often misquoted lyric: "Tonight's the night we'll make history..."

Answer: As sure as dogs can fly

Doesn't make sense? This is from the intro track, "AD 1928" which leads into the song "Rockin' The Paradise". The "Paradise Theatre" album the song appears on has a picture of a theater with several posters on it advertising various attractions. One of the posters boasts Sparky The Flying Dog. This is where the oddball lyric comes from. The lyric sounds so ridiculous, and its origin is so obscure, that many assume it says "doves" rather than "dogs", which would make a lot more sense.

NOTE: If you thought the proper lyric was "Honey, you and I", please don't send a correction. You are thinking of the song "The Best Of Times" which has the exact same music, and VERY similar lyrics.

P.S. "Honey, you and I", is not listed as one of the possible correct answers to this quiz, nor are any other "Best Of Times" lyrics. Sorry, this had caused some unnecessary confusion. There really is only one correct answer listed on the quiz.
3. What is the correct lyric from "Mr. Roboto"?

Answer: I am the modren man

The lyrics actually say "modren" with a backwards "R". It has caused many people to misquote the lyric, or give up trying to figure out what it says.
4. Which line completes this often misquoted lyric: "I see it in your eyes..."

Answer: The love, the need, your tears

From The #1 hit, "Babe". I sang this one wrong for YEARS! (Still do actually.)
5. Which line completes this often misquoted lyric: "I'll take those long nights..."

Answer: Impossible odds

"Blue Collar Man" is famous for misquotes in the chorus.
6. Which line completes this often misquoted lyric: "Keepin' my back..."

Answer: to the wall

As you can see, many folks just mangle "Blue Collar Man"'s entire chorus.
7. Which line completes this often misquoted lyric: "I feel so..."

Answer: helpless, like a boat against the tide

From "The Best Of Times", from the "Kilroy" album.
8. Which line completes this often misquoted lyric: "My God, I'm..."

Answer: hardly alive

Just keep rackin 'em up for "Blue Collar Man"
9. Which line completes this often misquoted lyric: "I've given up hope for the afternoon..."

Answer: soaps and a bottle of cold brew

This lyric is from the song "Too Much Time On My Hands". Yeah, baby!
10. Which line completes this often misquoted lyric: "But somehow we missed out..."

Answer: on the pot of gold

Bring it full-circle back to "Come Sail Away", another of the more misquoted songs to finish it up.

As you took the test did you find yourself saying "Oh, that's what that said all these years"?
