1. Name the ABBA song which contains the following lyric: "...you're a teaser, you turn them on...leave them burning and then you're gone..."

Answer: Dancing Queen

"Dancing Queen" was the first # 1 American hit for the super-successful Swedish foursome called ABBA. During the 1970's the group was considered one of Sweden's most profitable 'exports'.
2. Name the Stargard song which contains the following lyric: "...I had a little trouble in my hometown. Things got funky so I had to leave, right away..."

Answer: Which Way is Up

"Which Way is Up" was the title song from the 1977 Warner Brothers film, which starred Richard Pryor, Lonette McKee and Margaret Avery. The song, which hit # 1 on the R & B chart, was written by Motwon songwriter, Norman Whitfield. Whitfield also produced the smash soundtrack album from the 1976 movie "Car Wash".
3. Name the Hues Corporation song which contains the following lyric: "...Oh I need to have the strength that flows from you. Don't let me drift away my dear when love can see me through..."

Answer: Rock the Boat

"Rock the Boat" was a # 1 Pop hit for the Hues Corporation: a trio of two men and one woman which formed in 1969 in Los Angeles. The group's name was inspired by the late billionaire Howard Hughes and his corporation. The group changed the spelling of their name to avoid obvious potential problems!
4. Name the Labelle song which contains the following lyric: "...I get a warning when the season's gonna change. And I know gray matter is another name for brains..."

Answer: Messin' With My Mind

"Messin' With My Mind", my favorite Labelle song, was, unfortunately, not a big hit for the trio of ladies. Labelle is, of course, best remembered as being a sort of 'launching pad' for Patti Labelle's solo career. However, member Nona Hendryx also had a measure of solo success.
5. Name the Alton McClain and Destiny song which contains the following lyric: "...something's caught me by surprise, and I never opened up before..."

Answer: It Must Be Love

A 1978 Polydor Records release, "It Must Be Love" was the title song from Alton McClain and Destiny's debut album. According to the "All Music Guide", the album was produced by former Motown producer, Frank Wilson. Wilson produced numerous successful artists, including the late Eddie Kendricks, and the Supremes.

By the way, Alton McClain and Destiny were the first to record the song, "I've Learned to Respect the Power of Love", which was written by artist Angela Winbush. The song later became a # 1 R & B hit for artist Stephanie Mills.
6. Name the Dan Hartman song which contains the following lyric: "...I feel so good about us. I found a shining star..."

Answer: Instant Replay

Songwriter/performer/producer the late Dan Hartman had much success with disco (dance) music. However, it would be 1984 when he would have his biggest chart success. That year he hit # 1 on the Pop chart with his hit, "I Can Dream About You" from the movie and soundtrack album, "Streets of Fire". Hartman also had success as a part of the Edgar Winter Group in the early 1970's, and he produced music for the group Foghat as well. Sadly, Hartman passed away in 1994.
7. Name the Jones Girls song which contains the following lyric: "...now what's out there in the street, that's taking up, taking up all of your time?..."

Answer: You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else

The Jones Girls were a trio of sisters from Detroit, Michigan who were backing vocalists for major R & B artists, including Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross. It was during a Ross tour in the mid-1970's that they were 'discovered' by Kenny Gamble and signed to Philadelphia International Records, which was a label owned by Gamble and his partner, Leon Huff.
8. Name the Thelma Houston song which contains the following lyric: "...I can't survive, can't stay alive without your love..."

Answer: Don't Leave Me This Way

"Don't Leave Me This Way", a # 1 Pop and # 1 R & B hit back in 1977, was one of "Billboard Magazine"'s slowest rising # 1 singles. It took over ten weeks to make the climb to # 1. The song was first a hit for Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes featuring Teddy Pendergrass. According to discostepbystep.com, "Don't Leave Me This Way" was the # 2 song on Video Hits 1's (VH1's) Top 100 Greatest Dance Songs.

It was second only to Gloria Gaynor's undisputed classic, "I Will Survive".
9. Name the GQ song which contains the following lyric: "...The music's full of joy and laughter, and it's such a thrill..."

Answer: Disco Nights

GQ was a four-man group which formed in New York City in 1968. They had several hits, but "Disco Nights" was their biggest. It hit # 12 on the Top 40 Pop chart and # 1 on the R & B chart. The song and the album on which it was featured went gold. By the way, the group's initials stood for "Good Quality".
10. Name the Gwen McCrae song which contained the following lyric: "...let your arms shelter me from all hurt and pain..."

Answer: Rockin' Chair

Gwen McCrae's "Rockin' Chair" was a # 1 R & B smash, and it hit the Pop Top 10 as well. Born in Pensacola, Florida, Gwen and her husband, George McCrae, were both part of the T. K. Records label family. They were at the forefront of the disco 'explosion' in the mid-1970's. George had a huge # 1 Pop and R & B hit with the song, "Rock Your Baby", which, according to msnentertainment.com, was originally intended for Gwen!
