In 1962, Gilkyson left The Easy Riders, and created songs for Disney movies such as "The Jungle Book," "The Aristocats," and "Thomasina." On October 15, 1999, Gilkyson passed away in Austin, Texas.

Nat had other hit songs, such as "It's Only a Paper Moon," "Nature Boy," "Mona Lisa," "Unforgettable," "Pretend," and "Ramblin' Rose," among others.
