"Heartbreak Hotel" was Elvis's first #1 hit. It was released on January 27, 1956. It finally reached #1 three months after its release.
2. Who originally sang "Johnny B. Goode"?

Answer: Chuck Berry

Although Chuck Berry was the original singer of this song, Elvis also sang it.
3. "Return to Sender" was NOT a #1 hit on the US Billboard Pop Chart. Is this true?

Answer: yes

Although it was a very great song recorded by Elvis Presley, it was never a #1. It peaked at #2 on the U.S. pop charts in the 1960's.
4. In what year did the Beach Boys' "Surfin' USA" peak at #3?

Answer: 1963

"Surfin' USA", written by Chuck Berry and Brian Wilson, never got to #1 (on the U.S. pop charts). It was released by Capitol Records on March 11, 1963.
5. What was the first song that the Beatles ever recorded with the members of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison?

Answer: Love Me Do

"Love Me Do" was the first song by all four original members of the Beatles. Although some of you may think that that is wrong, it is actually true. It was first recorded with Andy White on drums, and Ringo Starr on tamborine, and then it was recorded with Ringo on drums. It reached #17 on the U.S. pop charts.
6. Elvis Presley is probably the best known singer for singing "Promised Land". Who wrote it?

Answer: Chuck Berry

Although this is also a great song by Elvis, it never reched #1 on the U.S. pop charts. It reached #14 in the U.S. and #9 in the United Kingdom. Elvis recorded it on December 15, 1973.
7. What was the original theme song of "Happy Days"?

Answer: Rock Around the Clock

"Rock Around the Clock" was the orginal theme of the hit TV show "Happy Days", starring Henry Winkler as Fonzie and Ron Howard as Richie. "Rock Around the Clock" was sung by Bill Haley and His Comets, from 1955. Well, it was recorded in 1954, and released in 1955.
8. "Bye Bye Love" by the Everly Brothers never peaked at #1 in the U.S.

Answer: true

"Bye Bye Love" is the very first song by the Everly Brothers, rejected 30 other times by different acts. It became a million-seller at #2 (in the United States) in 1957.
9. Who sings "Grease", the theme song of the 1977 movie "Grease"?

Answer: Frankie Valli

Frankie Valli sings the theme to "Grease". Elvis was dead by this time, Fats Domino just doesn't have the right voice for this, and although Frankie Avalon is in the movie singing "Beauty School Dropout", he doesn't sing the theme song.
10. Which of the following songs was best known when sung by Fats Domino?

Answer: Ain't that a Shame

Fats Domino may sing some of the other songs on this list, but they are not originally his songs. He is probably best known for singing "Blueberry Hill", but "Ain't that a Shame" is another of his popular songs. "Ain't that a Shame" is also known as "Ain't it a Shame". Thanks for taking my quiz!
