Their hit song peaked at number eight on January 14, 1989. Unfortunately, this would be the only success for this short-lived 80s R&B duo.

Between 1988 and 2006, they recorded four music albums.

Their 1988 album "Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars" was the only one to gain any mainstream success. "What I Am" peaked on the Billboard charts at number seven, while their second release from the album "Circle" would peak at a disappointing number fourty-eight. To date, Edie Brickell & The New Bohemians have only had one song reaching the Billboard top forty.

4. Probably better known for his role as the lead singer and guitarist for Cheap Trick, Robin Zander would go on to record a one hit wonder song as a solo artist in 1989. "Surrender To Me" peaked at number six on the Billboard Charts in March of that year. How should the lyrics from the "Tequila Sunrise" soundtrack be completed? In 1965, "Iko Iko" peaked at number twenty on the Billboard charts for the Dixie Cups. Over twenty years later, it would peak at number fourteen for The Belle Stars. The Belle Stars formed in 1980 in England and would disband in 1986 after having next to little success during this stint.

It was two years after they had disbanded that they had their first top 40 hit. After being included on the soundtrack for "Rainman", The Belle Stars would finally see their hard earned work turn into a Billboard success.

7. During its original release in 1985, "Where Are You Now?" by Jimmy Harnen and Synch received very little airtime and peaked on the Billboard charts at number seventy-seven. Four years later, the song reappeared on the music scene, but this time, it would gain a tremendous amount of airtime. It peaked at number ten in June 1989. Raised in Pennsylvania, Jimmy Harnen began his musical career in high school in 1985 while playing in the school band. By the end of 1985, Harnen was also in a local band called Synch. He was their drummer and had a limited role as a singer. In 1989, however, on one of the few songs Harnen sang on, he, along with the band, became an instant success, peaking at number ten.

Unfortunately, this would be Synch's only Billboard hit and they would enter the realm of the one hit wonders by the end of 1989.

8. Love and Rockets consisted of former Bauhaus members Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin Haskins. Unlike Bauhaus' style as a gothic rock group, Love and Rockets tended to perform alternative rock music. According to the lyrics, what is his head "filled" with? When Ash, David J, and Haskins formed as Love and Rockets in 1985, it was their main goal to move away from their original gothic style. Although it did not make the Billboard top 40, "Ball of Confusion" was their path to success. By 1989, Love and Rockets had released four albums. Their 1989 release "Love and Rockets" peaked at number fourteen in the United States. To top off the success, their song "So Alive" went to number three on the Billboard charts by August of 1989. Following their 1989 success, Love and Rockets would go on to record three more albums, a greatest hit record, and a live album.

Unfortunately, like many bands of the 80s, "So Alive" would be their one and only claim to fame.

9. Hailing from Canada, the Jeff Healey Band gained notoriety as their lead singer, Jeff Healey, had the ability to play a guitar even though he was legally blind in both eyes. Unfortunately, their song "Angel Eyes" would be the only hit they would have on the Billboard top 40. How should the lyrics to this popular song be completed? "Angel Eyes" would be included on the soundtrack for the movie "Roadhouse" featuring Patrick Swayze and The Jeff Healey band would make a cameo performance in the movie. Jeff Healey lost the sight in both of his eyes due to a rare cancer of the eyes known as "retinoblastoma". Tragically, in March 2008, he would succumb to this disease leaving behind his wife and two children.

10. Closing out the 1990s, Kix would go into the record book as a one hit wonder band when their hit song "Don't Close Your Eyes" peaked at number eleven on December 16.
