The song, written by Army Staff Sergeant Barry Sadler, a Special Forces medic, was one of very few pro-military songs during the Vietnam War. It stayed at number one for five weeks and sold nine million copies.
4. In 1970, a fictional band reached number one on the Hot 100 chart with what song starting with these lyrics: "I'm sleeping and right in the middle of a good dream"?

Answer: I Think I Love You

"I Think I Love You" reached number one in December, 1970, and sold five million copies. The album on which it appears, "The Partridge Family Album", was certified gold by the RIAA. It was the third song to reach number one for a band that didn't actually exist. The first two were The Chipmunks and The Archies.
5. Another Hot 100 number one for 1979 began with these lyrics: "I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long" What is the name of the song?

Answer: Escape (The Pina Colada Song)

Sung by Rupert Holmes, the song at first slowly rose up the Billboard charts because nobody could remember the song's actual name, which was just "Escape" at the time. Holmes subsequently changed the name to "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" and it then quickly rose to number one.
6. 1980 ushered in a Hot 100 hit beginning with these lines: "What's the matter with the clothes I'm wearing?" Name the song.

9. In 1991, this song reached number one on the Hot 100. Beginning with "Saying 'I love you' is not the words I want to hear from you", can you remember the song's title?

Answer: More Than Words

Sung by the group Extreme, "More Than Words" entered the Hot 100 charts at a lowly 81, but eventually made it to number one. The band, primarily a metal band, began to resent the song because audiences kept expecting to hear it during concerts.
