"Peter, Paul, and Mommy Too!" Trivia Quiz

This has been one of my favorite Peter, Paul and Mary concerts (live recording) for a long time. I will give you a segment of the song and you fill in the blanks. (Not all of these songs are theirs because the concert was mainly for children.)

8. Finish the verse to this comedic song: "How _______ to swallow a Peter, Paul, and Mary."

Answer: contrary

This song was "I know an old lady who swallowed a fly" as done by Peter and Paul. They asked for people in the audience to give them things for her to swallow. One person said a washing machine and Peter replied "To keep herself clean she swallowed a washing machine!" Then a kid in the audience said "Peter, Paul, and Mary" and Mary said this line. (Mary had sneaked on stage from the back.) It was originally written by Rose Bonne and Alan Mills (the adapted version.) It was just used by Peter, Paul, and Mary for this one concert.

"Pastures of Plenty" was originally written by Woody Guthrie who was a young man who used to live in Texas and was scorned when he tried to make a living from singing. This song is about the migrant workers who travel to find work for food and a place to live. It was first released on "Peter, Paul, and Mommy Too!"

This song was originally written by John Denver and revised by Mary and later sung by Mary in one of Peter, Paul, and Mary's albums released in 1966. It was originally called "Poem For Bobbie" but was called "Poem for Erika" in "Peter, Paul, and Mommy Too!"
15. Finish the chorus sung by Peter: "We shall overcome ______."

Answer: some day

Peter sang "We Shall Overcome," and it is about Martin Luther King's people trying to overcome racial hatred back in the sixties. It was written by Pete Seeger, Guy Carawan, Frank Hamilton, and Zilphia Horton. Peter sang it for the first time on "Peter, Paul, and Mommy Too!"
16. Finish the verse: "Won't be my father's Jack, no I won't be my mother's Jill. I'll be a fiddler's wife and ______ when I will."

Answer: fiddle

This song is sort of like a remix of "It's Raining." Peter, Paul, and Mary sung it and it was re-written by Paul and Len Chandler. It even has Mary playing a hide-and-go-seek game and her counting at the end of verses. It is really creative and fun to sing with, and was released in Peter, Paul, and Mary's first album.
17. Finish the chorus to my favorite "Peter, Paul, and Mary" song: "I'd hammer out danger, I'd hammer out _______."

Answer: warning

20. That was the last song in the concert so I have a free question. In 1969 Peter, Paul, and Mary did "Peter, Paul, and Mommy" before doing "Peter, Paul, and Mommy Too!" Why are the concerts called "Peter, Paul, and Mommy" in the first place?

Answer: that is what Mary's daughter called it

Mary's eldest daughter, Erika, used to call them Peter, Paul, and Mommy when she was a little girl. In 1969, Mary thought it would be cute to call the concert "Peter, Paul, and Mommy" sort of as a tribute to her daughter. In 1993, when Peter, Paul, and Mary did this concert they re-used the name and called it "Peter, Paul, and Mommy Too!"
