Answer: Stay

This song was a new release included on Amy's greatest hits album, "The Collection".
2. DeGarmo and Key had a hit song which included these lyrics: " I remember riding in the back seat of my daddy's chevrolet car..." What was the name of the song?

Answer: Every Moment

After a hit-filled 1985 release, this was the only major hit from 1986's Street Light project.
3. Who sang "Let There Be Praise"?

Answer: Sandi Patti

This was the first song on her "Morning Like This" album.
4. Who sang a song with these lyrics? "I have a thankful heart that You have given me, and it can only come from You."

Answer: Petra

"Thankful Heart" was from Petra's "Back to the Street", featuring new lead singer John Schlitt.
5. What song from Kim Boyce's self-titled debut album has a one-word title?

Answer: Here

Wayne Watson sang backup on this song, written by Tim Miner, which showcases Kim's incredible vocal range.
6. "I saw a man who was holding the hand that had fired a gun at his heart..." Who sang these lyrics?

Answer: Steve Taylor

These are lyrics from Steve Taylor's "To Forgive".
7. What word is missing from the title of this Stryper song? "______ on You"

Answer: Calling

"Calling on You" is a great song from Stryper's "To Hell With the Devil" album. I was disappointed that it was not included on their 1991 hits package.
8. Benny Hester had a song titled "Wonderful _________ of Love".

Answer: Invention

This is my favorite song from Benny's "Through the Window" album. This is the followup album to "Benny From Here", which contained the classic "When God Ran".
9. Morgan Cryar had a huge hit with "Pray in the U.S.A." Complete this phrase from the song: "We're free today in the USA, but not here in my _______."

Answer: school

This is my favorite song of the year, and would rank pretty high on my alltime list. The previous line says, "Teacher sayin', 'Can't be prayin',' Says it's against the rules." The song goes on to say that "they can't stop all that prayin' cause you can still pray in the USA."
10. What rock group had a hit with the ballad "Honestly"?

Answer: Stryper

My best friends used this pretty song in their wedding. Stryper produced two versions of this video, because MTV thought the original was too religious, but was willing to play the revised version.
11. Sandi Patti had a hit with "Love in Any ________".

Answer: Language

This song from her "Morning Like This" album begins with "I love you" being spoken/sung in several languages.
12. Two different artists recorded different hit songs that had the same title. Who had success with songs entitled "Remember Me"?

Answer: Bryan Duncan and Benny Hester

I like Bryan Duncan's "Remember Me" better than Benny Hester's. From Bryan's Holy Rollin album, this song gives the perspective of the repentant thief on the cross next to Jesus. The recent "Remember Me" by Mark Schultz is another different song by the same title.
13. Who sang "Strength of the Weak"?

Answer: Morgan Cryar

Leslie had a hit with "Strength of My Life" a couple of years earlier, but this song was from Morgan Cryar's "Fuel on the Fire" album.
14. Petra had a hit song which proclaimed that "we need to take this message _____________."

Answer: back to the street

Back to the Street was both the name of a song and the album Petra released in 1986. At the time, it was quite an adjustment to hear Petra without Greg X Volz as their lead singer. Now, many don't even remember him.
15. Who sang "Life Begins at the Cross"?

Answer: Altar Boys

This song was from the Altar Boys' "Gut Level Music" album. This was a fun album of songs that had a little harder edge than most of what was being played on Christian radio at the time. This album also had a cover of "Unconditional Love".
16. What former member of the Imperials had moderate success with a song (and album) titled "Live and Learn"?

Answer: Paul Smith

Paul replaced Russ Taff as lead singer of the Imperials in 1981 and stayed until 1985. This is my favorite of Paul's solo projects. He also had mild hits with "Never Be Another" and "A Holy Nation" from this album.
17. Stryper had a song called "My ________ I'll Always Show".

Answer: Love

This was one of two songs that were added to 1984's "The Yellow and Black Attack", which was then re-released in 1986.
18. Who recorded "Man Like You"?

Answer: Greg X. Volz

This song was from Greg's first solo project after leaving Petra. The album was called "The River Is Rising", which was also the name of another hit song.
19. According to the lyrics of a Michael W. Smith song, "The place to be was________."

Answer: Rocketown

"Rocketown" was a huge hit for Michael from "The Big Picture" album. He later started a hip hangout for youth which he named Rocketown.
20. In Amy Grant's "Love Can Do", which of the following is NOT mentioned as something that love can do?

Answer: find a way

"Find a Way" is another song of Amy's, but the line is not mentioned in "Love Can Do". "Love Can Do" was one of two new songs on "The Collection". It was co-written by Amy, Michael W. Smith, and Wayne Kirkpatrick and included then-husband Gary Chapman and former Petra lead Greg Volz as background singers.
21. Steve Taylor had a song called "On the ______".

Answer: Fritz

"On the Fritz" was also the name of the album. You can also find this song and "To Forgive" (from question 6) on his greatest hits collection called "The Best We Could Find [Plus 3 That Never Escaped]". I always thought that was a cool title.
22. Who recorded "Interstellar Satellite"?

Answer: Crumbacher

Crumbacher also had some interesting titles. The name of this 1986 album was "Escape From the Fallen Planet". This was their second album. The first had the song "Jamie"--the video for which was ever present on Christian video shows at the time.
23. The New Gaither Vocal Band had a song called "The Lord of _______".

Answer: Hosts

After many years recording with his wife and brother as the Bill Gaither Trio, Bill formed the New Gaither Vocal Band. I believe this song was from their second album. Larnelle Harris was a member at the time. The (no longer "New") Gaither Vocal Band is still going strong today with David Phelps, Guy Penrod, and Russ Taff joing Bill as members.
24. Ken Medema had a song about Mary's reaction to finding out she'd give birth to Jesus. The song was called "I'll Go Tell __________".

Answer: Elizabeth

If you've never heard of Ken Medema (and many haven't), you've missed out on a unique artist. His voice is okay, but he is an excellent pianist. Oh yeah, he's also blind. His strongpoint is his creativity and ability to tell stories through songs. Probably his most well known song is "Moses".

The "I'll Go Tell Elizabeth" song is from a live double album called "Is Your Phone Ringin'?", in which he imagines that they had phones in the Bible days and tells the reactions from people (such as Mary, Moses, Esther, and others) when God calls them.
25. In addition to a new studio release with John Schlitt, Petra also put out a final album with Greg Volz. This live recording of hits also contained one song never recorded before(or after). What's missing from the title: "The Great _______"?

Answer: I Am

Captured in Time and Space was the name of this final Petra project with Greg Volz. "The Great I Am" was sung near the end of the concert during an altar call before concluding (appropriately enough) with "It Is Finished".
