When John Lennon wrote this song, with some help from Paul McCartney, John was somewhat overwhelmed by The Beatles' incredible success. He was overeating and drinking and had become overweight, and was truly in need of "Help". This was one of Lennon's favorite songs. "And now my life has changed in oh, so many ways. My independence seems to vanish in the haze.

But every now and then I feel so insecure. I know that I just need you like I've never done before. Help me if you can, I'm feeling down, and I do appreciate you being 'round.

Help me get my feet back on the ground, won't you please, please help me?"

Answer: Cry

This song, written by Paul McCartney, expressed his regrets over a lost love. "Last night is the night I will remember you by, when I think of things we did, it makes me wanna cry."

Answer: Two foot small

Bob Dylan was the influence for John Lennon in this song recorded in February of 1965. He must have been feeling pretty low when he sang, "Here I stand head in hand, turn my face to the wall, If she's gone I can't go on, feeling two foot small. Everywhere people stare, each and every day, I can see them laugh at me, and I hear them say,
Hey you've got to hide your love away, hey you've got to hide your love away."

This was the second time that The Beatles recorded a song written by George Harrison. It was said that Harrison wrote if for this girlfriend Pattie Boyd. The lyrics lament, "You don't want my lovin' anymore, that's when it hurt me, and feeling like this, I just can't go on anymore. Please remember how I feel about you, I could never really live without you. So come on back and see, just what you mean to me, I need you, but when you told me, you don't want my lovin' anymore".

Answer: Sweeter

Paul McCartney's lyrics told of a boy that is trying to explain to his girlfriend that he is unable to commit to a long term relationship because he's met someone else. "For I have got, another girl, another girl, she's sweeter than all the girls and I've met quite a few."

Answer: Take her out

Oddly, in this Lennon-McCartney collaboration, a boy is warned that if he doesn't treat his girlfriend right, the singer is going to move in and take her. "You're gonna lose that girl.If you don't take her out tonight, she's gonna change her mind. And I will take her out tonight, and I will treat her kind."

Answer: A girl is going away

It has been suggested that John Lennon's inspiration for this song came from the health card given to prostitutes in Hamburg, Germany indicating that they were medically clean and had a 'ticket to ride'. More innocent others believe that 'ticket to ride'is a British Railway ticket to Ryde on the Isle of Wight. This was Paul McCartney's attempt at a bluegrass song written years before The Beatles recorded it. Paul used to play it at family gatherings and it became a favorite of his Aunt Gin, and he fondly called it "Auntie Gin's Theme".

Ringo sang this song written by Vonie Morrison and Johnny Russell. Buck Owens was the co-host of the popular television show "Hee Haw". He and Ringo got together years later and recorded it again.

"Yesterday" is arguably the most recorded song in history. "The Guinness Book of World Records" cites over 3000 recorded versions. The song was written and performed by Paul McCartney alone.
