2. "Don't Give Up On Us" was a surprising hit for someone who is more likely known for his acting than his singing. Who was this 70's television star whose song comes in at #39?

Answer: David Soul

David Soul is probably best known for his role as detective Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson in the popular television program, "Starsky and Hutch." He is actually a British citizen, and in the 90's, moved back to London to pursue a stage career.
3. "Baby I Love Your Way" comes next in the list, and the singer of this one was also the songwriter. He has done solo work and played in several bands, the most famous being Humble Pie. Who is this English Grammy winning musician?

Answer: Peter Frampton

Frampton won a Grammy in 2007 for his album "Fingerprints" (Best Pop Instrumental Album). He decided to become a United States citizen after September 11, 2001, and lives in a suburb of Cincinnati.
4. The #37 song has been covered by Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, and Perry Como, but Leo Sayer's version was the one that became a worldwide hit in 1977. What is this song about a long distance relationship?

Answer: When I Need You

Sayer is another British artist, although he is now based in Australia. He has had success with albums and singles alike in both the UK and the US.
5. The British pop band 10cc had their first US chart success when this song reached #2 in 1975. It was notable to producers for its richly dubbed choral backing, and is a "protest" song of sorts. What is this song that hit #36 on the "Softsational" list?

Answer: I'm Not in Love

"I'm Not in Love" was the catalyst for 10cc's deal with Mercury Records for $1 million. Unfortunately, the band broke up the following year.
6. What song by the American band Extreme begins with the lyrics "Saying I love you is not the words I want to hear from you...?"

Answer: More Than Words

Extreme was a band that characterized their music as "funky metal," and "More Than Words" was quite a departure from that. If you don't think you know this song, watch the video on YouTube and you'll definitely remember it! The acoustic guitar work and harmonies are beautiful!
7. The 1977 ballad "Sometimes When We Touch" was written and released by Canadian Dan Hill. So, what does this #34 song say sometimes happens "when we touch?"

Answer: The honesty's too much

Hill had many hits in Canada, but this was the only one that did well in the US. Tina Turner covered this song on her album "Rough," in 1978.
8. The singer of the #33 song, "Peace Train," was born Steven Demetre Georgiou, and is now known as Yusuf Islam. Who was he known as from 1966-1978, when he had this hit song?

Answer: Cat Stevens

"Peace Train" is reputedly one of the most famous war-protest songs in history.
Stevens changed his name the first time at the age of 16, because he thought his Greek name wouldn't be memorable as a stage name. He converted to Islam in 1977 and changed his name again in 1978. He then abandoned his pop career and now works for educational and philanthropic causes in London and elsewhere.
9. What former member of a musical duo broke out on his own and became "king of the movie theme songs" in the 80's? He comes in at #32 on this list with the Grammy winning "This is It."

Loggins' career really took off when he split with Jim Messina. He had several massive hits, including "Footloose," "Danger Zone," and "What a Fool Believes."
10. #31 on the "Softsational" list, Richard Marx, began his musical career at age five singing commercial jingles. He had his first number one hit with what ballad from his debut album?

Answer: Hold On To The Nights

Marx has done background vocals for Lionel Richie, Madonna, and Whitney Houston. He has served as a writer/producer for stars such as Barry Manilow, Barbra Streisand, and Michael Bolton. In 2004 he won a Grammy award for Song of the Year for "Dance With My Father," which he co-wrote with Luther Vandross.
