Syd Barrett was on guitar and lead vocals, Roger Water on bass and vocals and Richard Wright on keyboards and vocals. The first three albums of the band were "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn", "A Saucerful of Secrets" and "More". Nick Mason was born in Edgabaston, Birmingham in 1947.

He studied architecture in Regent Street Polytechnic.
