4. Which was the first band that Roy joined as a professional musician?

Answer: Gerry Levene and the Avengers

Roy formed a band called The Falcons in 1960 as a 14 year old and left the group in 1963 to join Gerry Levene and the Avengers as a professional. He left one year later to join Mike Sheridan and The Nightriders. Jeff Lynne was also a member of this group and teamed up with Roy in The Move and later they formed ELO.
5. What was Wizzard's first UK Single Chart number one song?

Answer: See My Baby Jive

The single spent four weeks at the top of the chart during May and June 1973. It was written and produced by Roy Wood. The B-side was "Bend Over Beethoven".
6. Roy Wood made a version of one of Wizzard's hit songs with which group of furry fictional creatures?

Answer: The Wombles

"I Wish It Could Be A Wombling Merry Christmas Every Day" was released in 2000 and peaked at Number 22 on the UK Singles Chart. The Wombles were created by Elizabeth Beresford, an author of children's books, and the musical group The Wombles were musicians dressed as the furry creatures.
7. The single "10538 Overture' was released by which band?

Answer: Electric Light Orchestra

This was the first single released by ELO in 1972 and peaked at number nine in the UK Singles Chart. The song is about an escaped prisoner, hence a number instead of a name.
8. What was Roy's first solo single?

Answer: When Gran'ma Plays the Banjo

This single was released in 1972 but never made the UK Single Charts. He included the track on his debut album "Boulders" in 1973 which peaked at number 15 on the UK Official Album Chart and number 176 on the US Billboard 200. He also created the sleeve artwork.
9. Where did Wizzard make their live debut?

Answer: The London Rock and Roll Show

This took place at Wembley Stadium on 5 August 1972. Among the artists appearing were Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Bill Haley and His Comets and Chuck Berry. Wizzard had only been formed a few weeks before the event!
10. "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" was prevented from being the 1973 Christmas Single Chart number one by which song?

Answer: Merry Xmas Everybody

Slade's "Merry Xmas Everybody" remained at the top of the British charts for five weeks. "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday", although a hugely popular song, could only peak at number four in the UK Singles Chart. The band decided to re-release the single again in 1981 and then again in 1984.
