Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What are the names of the members of the band?

Answer: Bono, the Edge, Larry Mullen Jr., and Adam Clayton

They have been together since they started the band as high school students in 1976, starting off with the name "Feedback," and then later "The Hype," before finally changing their name to U2.
2. Who started the band?

Answer: Larry

Larry posted an advertisement on the bulletin board at the Irish foursome's high school, Mount Temple Comprehensive School.
3. What song are the lines "And it's true we are immune, when fact is fiction, and t.v. reality" from?

Answer: Sunday, Bloody Sunday

This is one of my favorite songs! Bono described the song saying, "That was a religious outburst, contrasting the idea of Easter Sunday with the Easter Sunday when British paratroopers shot dead 13 protesters."
4. What is the name of the woman whom the Edge married in late June, 2002?

Answer: Morleigh Steinberg

Morleigh, an American, was a dancer for U2's ZooTV tour. The couple already had two children, daughter Sian and son Levi, at the time of their marriage. They were legally married on June 18, 2002, and held a wedding ceremony on June 22, 2002.
5. Who is the youngest member of the band?

Answer: Larry

Larry was born on October 31, 1961, making him two months and 23 days younger than the Edge, who is the next youngest member of the band. Larry is often teased by people, including bandmate Bono, for looking so young still.
6. What is the name of the country-western group that opened for U2 three times in 1987?

Answer: The Dalton Brothers

The Daltons were actually the members of U2 in costume. They opened for U2 on November 1, 1987 in Indianapolis, Indiana, on November 18, 1987 in Los Angeles, California, and on December 12, 1987 in Hampton, Virginia.
7. Which member of U2 got to dress in drag as Betty Dalton?

Answer: Adam

That must have been quite a sight!
8. With which American politician did Bono embark upon a tour of Africa, earning the duo the title "the odd couple"?

Answer: Paul O'Neill

Paul O'Neill is the U.S. Secretary of Treasury under George W. Bush. He has been a critic of the large amounts of aid given to developing countries, thinking there had been little progress. Bono wanted to prove him wrong and convince the U.S. to give even more.
9. What song do the lyrics "Through the storm we reach the shore, you give it all but I want more, and I'm waiting for you" come from?

Answer: With or Without You

Great song! Bono once described it as a "twisted love song."
10. What album was described by Bono as "the sound of four men chopping down the Joshua Tree"?

Answer: Achtung Baby

"Achtung Baby" was considered to have a darker sound, compared to the more spiritual songs on the Grammy-winning Joshua Tree album. "Achtung Baby" was a very experimental album for U2, and the vocals and instruments sounded unlike anything U2 had ever done before.
