Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Blink-182 was born in which San Diego suburb?

Answer: Poway

While Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker grew up in other parts of California, Tom DeLonge was born and raised in Poway and the band is credited to come from there.
2. In what year was the band formed?

Answer: 1992

Although the band didn't actually play gigs for a long time, Tom was introduced to Mark through a mutual friend in 1992, basically forming what would become Blink-182.
3. Who was the member of Blink-182 that Travis Barker replaced?

Answer: Scott Raynor

Jerry Finn was later the producer of the band, Fletcher Dragge is a member of Pennywise - one of the band's influences - and Cam Jones was a bassist who filled in for Mark in the early days during the recording of their first demo. Scott Raynor was the first drummer in the band but he was much younger than the others; it was difficult to get him to shows until he turned 18. Later on just as the band was becoming successful, Raynor had to leave because of personal issues.

The song "Man Overboard" was written about his departure.
4. What was the first record label the band was signed to?

Answer: Cargo Records

The first label they were signed to was Cargo. Although, in the early days of their success, a bidding war took place between Epitaph, MCA and Interscope who were all trying to sign them.
5. What was the name of Blink-182's sophomore album?

Answer: Dude Ranch

"Dude Ranch" was their second album. Sophomore refers to any artist's second album. There is also a "sophomore curse", where second albums don't tend to do as well as the debut album.
6. Tom DeLonge suffered injury in the early 2000s due to his posture while performing on stage. Where did he injure himself?

Answer: His back

Tom suffered chronic back pain due to the way he stood on stage (if you watch any of their early performances, particularly "All the Small Things", you'll notice how he stands with both feet turned inwards and leans forward).
7. The band made a cameo appearance in a popular movie for which they also wrote a song. What movie was this?

Answer: American Pie

Blink-182 wrote the song "Mutt" for "American Pie" and made a very short cameo appearance lasting only a few seconds, in the scene where Jim sees Nadia on the webcam and rushes home to have sex with her.
8. In what year was it announced that the band was going on indefinite hiatus?

Answer: 2005

Tensions grew between the band as they grew older. Tom wanted to focus more on his family life rather than the band and stated that the member's plans were "mad different" to each other. He was the first to leave with the others following. During the break, Tom formed the band Angels and Airwaves, Travis set up a shoe line and also focused on new bands and Mark began producing bands and running a podcast.
9. In 2008, two unfortunate events brought the band back together. One was the death of Jerry Finn, a friend to all the members. What was the second event?

Answer: A plane crash where Travis was one of only two survivors

It was the plane crash that prompted the band to get in touch with one another again - the other ones are completely made up....
10. Finish this line from my one of my favourite Blink-182 songs. "She's unstoppable, unpredictable, I'm so ________, calculated _________"

Answer: jaded/wrong

The line is from the song "Please Take Me Home" :) Hope you enjoyed the quiz...
