Jimi was born as Johnny Allen Hendrix. His name was later changed to James Marshall Hendrix. He also changed the spelling of his nickname from Jimmy to Jimi.

Hendrix got the guitar at age 14. He got his first electric guitar, a Supro Ozark, at 15.
