Angus Young (AC/DC), Kirk Hammett (Metallica) and Billy Joe Armstrong (Green Day) are all excellent guitarists in their own right. But 'Old Slow Hand' Eric Clapton is still classed by many as the greatest ever guitarist.
4. What well known deceased drummer played on The Yardbirds' 'Beck's Bolero'?

Answer: Keith Moon

The track was inspired by Ravel's 'Bolero' and was credited to Jimmy Page, although Jeff Beck claimed to have written the song.
5. What track's opening riff from the album 'Little Game Sessions and More', featured in a 'Great Shakes' advert?

Answer: Over Under Sideways Down

The album was a compilation one brought out in 1992 and was their last commercial success.
6. Jeff Beck went on to form The Jeff Beck group after he left the Yardbirds. Which single, his first release, featured 'Beck's Bolero' on the 'B' side?

Answer: Hi Ho Silver Lining

The song was written by American song writers Scott English and Larry Weiss and has been recorded by several different bands, but the version done by Jeff Beck is the most well known. Interestingly, it was recorded a few days earlier, in March 1967, by The Attack, but it was Beck's version that hit the charts first.
7. When did the Yardbirds break up?

Answer: 1968

Jeff Beck left in 1967 and went on to form The Jeff Beck Group.
Jimmy Page did not leave until 1968.
8. The Yardbirds were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, although they had disbanded several years previously. Which former band member has three separate entries on this list?

Answer: Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton has three entries in the Hall of Fame: with the Yardbirds, with Cream and as a solo artist.
9. What band did Jimmy Page go on to form after he left the Yardbirds?

Answer: Led Zeppelin

John Paul Jones, who had worked with Page on many occasions previously, came in on keyboards.
Terry Reid was unable to join the band as lead singer, but recommended an unknown vocalist, Robert Plant, who in turn recommended a childhood friend of his, John Bonham, as drummer.
So began the career of one of the most successful rock bands ever.
10. Two of the original members of the Yardbirds decided to reform the band in 1992. Who were these two original members?

Answer: Jim McCarty and Chris Dreja

Mayo and Idan became part of the new line-up, Slash and May were only guest artists for the band and Daltrey and Townsend had nothing to do with the Yardbirds, original nor reformed, being two key members of The Who.
Their debut was at the Marquee club in London, alongside the newly reformed band, The Animals.
