The Gizmotron device was a small box which attached to the bridge of a guitar. It consisted of six small motor driven wheels with serrated edges. They were activated by pressing one or more of the keys located on the top of the device. That allowed the wheels to descend against a motor driven shaft and bow the strings. The sound was affected by the type of guitar strings being used. The device was difficult to use and parts were not replaceable; by the end of the '70s Gizmotronics set up by Musitronics to produce the Gizmotron went bankrupt and the project was abandoned.

Kevin Godley and Lol Creme left 10cc after differences between them and Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman became more apparent during the recording of the album "How Dare You" in 1976. They went on to produce the three album set "Consequences" in 1977 and had two UK Top Ten singles in 1981.

Graham Gouldman and Eric Stewart recruited drummer Paul Burgess and carried on as 10cc, a three piece band. Their first album after Kevin Godley and Lol Creme left was "Deceptive Bends". It was named after a road sign that used to be on the southbound A24 road between Leatherhead and Dorking in Surrey, England.

"Dreadlock Holiday" was written by Eric Stewart/Graham Gouldman. It was the first track on their 1978 album "Bloody Tourists". The events that unfold in the song are based on the actual experiences of The Moody Blues singer Justin Hayward and 10cc's Eric Stewart while on holiday in the Caribbean.
