The Next Country Music Quiz

As you may know, this is my second country music quiz. I hope this is as good as (or better than!) the first one. Like my first one, all I'm asking is for the name of the song that the lyrics belong to. Got it? Then, here we go!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's get this one started. Do you know this question? "She said I need sometime to find myself, I need a little space to think."

Answer: "Brand New Girlfriend" By Steve Holy

"Maybe we should start seeing other people.
baby, things are moving way to fast for me."
(O.k. This is a little silly. A man breaks up with a girl, and in a few days flat (it didn't say how long, so, I'm estimating here) he gets himself a brand new girlfriend, like the song says.)

"Brand New Girlfriend" - 2006
2. What about this one? "I don't need a whole lot of money But I wouldn't turn a lottery down."

Answer: "A Good Man" By Emerson Drive

"I just need a little green in my pocket
So I can buy my buddies a round."
(This song talks about a person who wants to be remembered as, well, a good man.)

"Countrified" - 2006
3. And what about this sassy one? "Don't wantcha for the weekend. Don't wantcha for a night."

Answer: "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" By Shania Twain

"I'm only interested if I can
have you for life."
(In the video, she had to use a futuristic motorcycle to get rid of a huge monster.)

"Up!" - 2002
4. How about this? "You're doin' all you can to get in them old jeans."

Answer: "Hot Mama" By Trace Adkins

"You want that body back
you had at seventeen."
(I really don't think "Lazarus, Come Forth" is a Country song. But, anyways, this is about a woman who wants to look like she did when she was 17, but her husband says, "girl, you're already one Hot Mama!")

"Comin' On Strong" - 2003
5. Here's a hint to this one, it came before "Pure B.S." "I hit the ground runnin' with the mornin' sun. When a job needs doin', I get it done."

Answer: "Heavy Liftin" By Blake Shelton

"I show up early and I go home late.
Everybody knows I pull my weight."
(This one is pretty much another "He Was A Good Man" song. Also, "Pure B.S." is the name of Blake's 2007 album. No, the B.S. isn't what you think! It's Blake Shelton's initials!)

"The Baby/Heavy Liftin'" - 2003
6. O.k. Can you get this song right? "It's 5:00. Just got paid. I'll be off the next two days. No more workin' like dogs, No more leash, no more boss."

Answer: "Yee Haw" by Jake Owen

"I got a weekend full of
nothing to do at all.
Yee haw."
(It's practically just a bar song about a man who's going to have a good time.)

"Starting With Me" - 2006
7. Can you get the song that's "Gone Country"? "Get it rockin'! Our boots are knockin'! We're gonna say it proud...

Answer: "Loud" by Big & Rich

"WE LOVE OUR COUNTRY AND WE LIKE IT LOUD!"
(This song is the theme song for the CMT show "Gone Country" hosted by John Rich, member of Big & Rich (in case you didn't already know.) This song was also played at the ACMs, and was dedicated to Porter Wagoner. Rest in peace.)

"Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace" - 2007
8. Here's a mysterious one. Can you get it? "She runs back down the hallway, and through the bedroom door. She reaches for the pistol, kept in the dresser drawer."

Answer: "The Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks

"She tells the lady in the mirror,
'He won't do this again!'
Cause tonight will be the last time
She'll wonder where he's been!"
(I apologize to those who might not have gotten this one right, this was a verse released *only* on the Garth Brooks Double Live cds, which were released in 1998. The verse was removed because people on Music Row had thought it was too violent [look at today's music!])
9. What about this golden oldie? "Today, I got a long letter From one who still cares for me. She asked lots of questions Like would I call her sometime..."

Answer: "Wine Colored Roses" by George Jones

"And was I getting back on my feet?
She asked if I had quit drinking
Like I promised her long ago.
One dozen reasons to tell her I love her,
Oh, but I found a way to say 'no.'"
(In this, George has received a letter, and one of the questions asked was if he stopped drinking. He had simply found a way to say no.)
10. And here's the last one! La-la-la... sorry. "I was coming home from school on a cold winter day I took a shortcut through the woods, and I lost my way. It was getting late, and I was scared and alone, Until a kind old man took my hand and led me home."

Answer: "Angels Among Us" by Alabama

"Now, Momma didn't see him, but he was standing there,
and I knew in my heart, he was the answer to my prayers."
(This was about one man's life, in which someone had come to him in his times of need. And, so ends yet another trip through some country music lyrics. Thanks for putting up with my witty, yet horrid, comments. Later!)

("Angels Among Us" - 1995)
