1. Which pair sang a version of "Jackson" that reached Number 14 in 1967?

Answer: Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood

"Lady Bird" and "Jackson" were two Top Forty singles by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood. "Jackson" made it to Number 14 and "Lady Bird" peaked at Number 20. "Some Velvet Morning" went to Number 26 the following year.
After signing with her father's Reprise label in 1961 Nancy Sinatra released "Cuff Links and a Tie Clip" which failed to chart. Four years later she still had not charted a Top Forty single.
She connected with Lee Hazlewood who wrote "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" which became a 1966 smash hit. The team continued to collaborate on projects for Nancy as well as duets.

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" was a 1967 Top Twenty by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Sonny and Cher took "The Beat Goes On" to Number Six. "It Takes Two" by Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston hit Number 14.

Answer: Booker T and the MGs

"Hip Hug-Her" and "Groovin'" were both US Instrumental Top Forty hits by Booker T. and The MG's in 1967. Booker T and the MGs were the house band at Stax Records in Memphis. In 1962 the musicians were jamming during a break in a recording session. They polished the song and called it "Behave Yourself". When the song was released the flip-side titled "Green Onions" became a national hit. The group would continue to record and release Instrumental hits throughout the sixties in addition to backing Stax artists in the studio.

"Blue's Theme" was an Number 37 Instrumental single by Davie Allan and The Arrows. Neal Hefti and his Orchestra had a Top Forty 1966 single with "Batman Theme". Ramsey Lewis took an Instrumental version of "A Hard Day's Night" to Number 29 in 1966.

Peggy Farina went by the name Peggy Santiglia when she sang lead vocals for The Angels on their hit, "My Boyfriend's Back". The Four 4 Seasons frequently used Peggy as a backing singer.
